Sometimes it seems like it’s taking forever for you to grow up. Give it time. The road from here to there is an important part of your journey — so enjoy it Girl! And remember, patience is not only a virtue – it’s a major part of growing up. While you are waiting, remember, if you can believe it, before you know it, you will have achieved it. Close your eyes for a second and imagine where you want to be 5 or even 10 years from now. For now, instead of focusing on specifics like where you will work or live, or even how much money you will make, think about the kind of person you will be and what will truly make you happy. What values will you live by? Will you be a giver? Who is your future self?

Grab a sheet of paper and write a letter to your future self. Tell her how proud you are of her accomplishments and let her know how much you love the person she has become. This may sound silly, but your future self will need encouragement just as much as you do right now. Be sure to include today’s date at the top. End the letter with your favorite quote and sign it. Fold the paper, place it inside an envelope and store it away in a safe place that you will remember. By the way, you don’t need to wait an entire decade to read your letter. Open the letter when you’re feeling down or when you need a quick reminder of just how awesome you are. You’ll thank yourself later.

Are you wondering how you get the sand and sun into your bedroom? Well, it’s easy! Just add a sandy colored rug or a rug with a sandy beach imprint to your floor. Imagine waking up and putting your feet in the “sand” every morning. Ready for the sun? Try adding a spotlight lamp, a sun shaped mirror, or even sunshine inspired curtains to brighten up your bedroom.
Bring the sea inside with the addition of different sea-inspired decals, figurines and pictures. Sea stars and shells make fabulous room accessories and there are tons of styles to choose from. For a more realistic feel, get real sea stars that have been preserved and place all around the room. They feel funky and they look fantastic! For a more whimsical feel, go with pictures (drawings, paintings, or photos) of brightly colored sea and beachy scenes.
How phenomenal would it be to have a real “hang out” in your room? Why not create a really cool space with a hammock or hanging chair? Yes, they have those for bedrooms and they are so much fun! Once your room makeover is complete, don’t be surprised if all of your besties want to come over just to chill at your “beach”.
