eing who you were meant to be can be a little challenging sometimes. When you are a girl, people usually like to tell you who THEY think you should be. It can be hard to deal with that. Don’t let them stop you from being the BE-YOU-TIFUL you that you are destined to be. To make that happen, you need lots of confidence. You might think that it’s impossible to have tons of confidence. But, little sis, you can have ALL OF IT! It’s not as hard as you think. Don’t believe us? Just watch how much confidence you’ll have after following these 5 secrets to major confidence:

Pat yourself on the back. When you are a little girl, you might wait for other people to tell you that you have done a good job, but, you need to KNOW for yourself that you did a great job. You will feel happy knowing you gave your all.

Be positive, even when other people are being totally negative. People will always have problems, and so will you. Handle your problems by always looking on the bright side and by being a problem solver, not a problem maker.

Love your body, even as it is changing. You are growing up and there are going to be some super weird things happening inside of your body. Just remember that all girls change into young women. It’s normal and totally cool. So, don’t worry...your body will always be perfectly and uniquely yours!

Smile. It sounds too easy, right? The thing about smiling is that it can make you appear happy and seeing your smile can bring happiness into other people’s lives. Smiling can help you to keep moving forward, even when things seem tough.
5.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Know that you mean the world to a lot of people and they all want to see you succeed! So, when you need help, ask for it. That’s what we call being resourceful, and that’s an important quality of confident and successful black women.

Do-It-Yourself Winter Crafts By Alexandria Daniels
Something about winter makes us all want to be cozy! Is there anything better than staying home, drinking hot cocoa, and making crafts? Winter is here, so let’s take some time to make some fun crafts! You might be bored at home or having a play date with your friends. These crafts are perfect for any day.
Bottle Cap Snowmen Do you want to hang snowmen from your tree or anywhere in your house? Before the snow falls on the ground, here’s how you can make your own snowmen. What you need: • • • • •
Bottle Caps Markers (Black and Orange) White Paint Colored String Heavy-duty Glue
1. First, paint all your bottle caps white (inside and out!) 2. Set aside three caps for your snowman 3. Using your orange marker, draw an orange triangle for the nose on the top cap 4. Using your black marker, draw dots for the eyes and a dotted smile 5. Add dots to the rest of the bottle caps for the body 6. With the help of a parent, use your string and glue it to the back of your three bottle caps TIP: Loop your string at the top so you can hang it wherever you want! 7. And you’re done! Use your favorite color string and wrap it around your snowman’s neck to make a scarf 6
Reindeer Thumbprint Ornaments You know Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, and Vixen… Now you can make your own reindeer ornaments in a few easy steps. What you need: • Matte Ornaments • Brown and Red Paint • Black Marker 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
Paint your thumb and add your finger print to each ornament Draw two dots on each finger print for the reindeer’s eyes Draw two lines for each ear Create three V’s down each antler Paint a red dot for each reindeer’s nose Let them dry!
Popsicle Stick Snowflakes Are you waiting for the snow to fall outside? Why wait? Make these snowflake crafts yourself! What you need: • • • •
Popsicle sticks Blue, white, and silver buttons Glue gun String
1. Take one popsicle stick and place it up and down on a table 2. Using a second popsicle stick, glue it diagonally across the first one 3. Using a third popsicle stick, glue it diagonally across the second one in the other direction 4. With the help of a parent, glue buttons along the popsicle sticks 5. Cut a piece of string in a loop and glue it to the back of the stick to hang

If you have too many, donate some. c) Take out some books that you would like to share with your friends and organize the rest.
5. Your old neighbor just got a new cell phone and doesn’t know how to use it. She needs to make a call to her son! How can you help her? a) You ask her for her phone and make the call for her. b) Teach her how to make the call. c) Show her how she can find help in the instruction book, that way, she will be able to get help whenever she needs it. 6. Your besties want to take a group pic. Everybody looks really cute today, so you don’t want to leave anyone off. What do you do to you make sure that everybody is in the picture? a) Take a group selfie. b) Prop up a phone and set the timer. Then, everybody jump in the pic! c) Ask someone else to take a few pics of your squad. If you answered A to most of the questions, you are like Storm from X-Men. Your superpower is your Strength!
