Make Your Room Fit For A Young King BY: SAEEDA RUFFIN Have you ever imagined that your room was your own fortress or command station? You may have pretended to be a dragon slayer, a technology wizard, or even the leader of your own nation. Those are really awesome wishes! But, then, when you look at your room, it might still have a “baby boy” feel to it, instead of feeling like a place where you have a lot of power. So, what can you do to change that? It is normal for a little boy to grow into a young man. Of course, that will mean that he will want his room to look like it’s growing up too, and not staying like a baby’s room. You can transform your bedroom into a space that is fit for a young king, because that is what you are! This doesn’t mean that you can shape-shift your room or have it change like an Autobot or Decepticon. But, you can alter things for a totally fresh, new look.
Here are a few tips to get you started:
Get Your Bed On Point Your bed has to be right, Sir, or else, the whole room won’t look good. Start by choosing a funky blanket and pillowcase. It can be anything that you want, but choosing a design features a brown boy might be really cool. Use your imagination and be creative!
Make Your Own Growth Checkpoint Just like when you have to measure other stuff for school or experiments, you can keep tabs on how much you are growing by measuring yourself! Ask someone to help you to put up a growth chart that will track how tall you are getting. It’s going to be crazy and a lot of fun, in like a year, when you look back over how much you have grown!
Have Your Walls Rockin’ Your doors and walls offer the perfect spaces for personalizing your bedroom. Whether you want your favorite characters on the walls, a few awesome posters, or your own artwork, whatever you choose should mean a lot to you! Another great way to customize your room is to have a door sign on it that everyone can read before they enter. That way, they know what’s up right from the door! You are the young king of your room. By following these few tips, you can make your space as fantastic, fun, and cool as you are! Now, that right there is enough to make any young king smile.

Nobody wants to have a bedroom that’s boring...Nope, nope, nope. A bedroom should be interesting, comfy, and fun. It should be the place where you have some of your best adventures and the place where you can get the best sleep. Yup, your room should be lit! So, how can you get it to go from a plain, regular room to an extraordinary bedroom?!
We have just the things that you need to blast your room into a phenomenal and super fun kids’ place! Let’s start with a theme that will take your room to a whole new level of cool like turning your bedroom into a Super Space Station. Now, that will be really awesome! Here are some items that will help you to get your room space-ready and totally extraordinary:
Go Ham On Astronaut Stuff How great would it be to have astronauts all around your room? Yes, you probably would love that! You can make it happen with an astronaut blanket, pillowcase, and rug, and if they had little brown boys on them, like you, that would make them even more fantastic. Then, add in some other astronaut items such as a really stellar space helmet. You could even use your bicycle helmet as a space helmet. Get creative and use your imagination with this. There are no limits in space!
Make Your Walls Feel Like Space Bring the starlight inside your room with glow-in-the-dark stars! Put them on the ceiling and all over the walls. You can get the plastic dollar store stars or you can make your own, and paint them with glow-in-the-dark paint. Also, hang some posters and spacey artwork all over the walls.
Your Lighting Has To Be Out Of This World Let your imagination flow and think about what life will be like out in space, and some of the things that you may see. Do you think you will see lava while you are in your super space station or the glow from the moon off in the distance? Well, you can pretend like will by getting a lava lamp and a really cool night light. You will be all set to blast off into many years of fun in your bedroom!

How much money do you want to save and how long will it take? Write down a dollar amount you want to save up and set a date on the calendar for when you want to get it by. Now it’s time to keep your eye on the prize. Cut back on buying extra treats like snacks at school or spending on new video game cards.
