Page 1. Logging into the AutologyWorld web search Please follow these steps carefully:

it brings information that is important, and relevant to YOU. For this to happen you need to log into the autologyworld Web site.
Open your web browser. (this is usually Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox)
Double Click
OR
Go to the Autologyworld website by typing the following in the address bar :

Click on the login link. A new window will open on your screen.

Type in your username and password, then click the log-in button.
You are now logged into your personal learning space Congratulations!
The rest of this guide takes you through how to use autology to pull and push information to get you the results you need. You can also find this information in Flash presentations on our web site at www.autology.org and click on the "How it Works" link.

Log into Autology World. (see previous page titled ‘Logging into Autology World’ if you are not already logged in)

You will see the following page in your web browser :

Click in the Search box and start typing the information that you are looking for.
This is ‘Pull Technology’ It works by you ‘pulling’ information to you by using our web site search engine, you can get text, pictures and videos that are only important to you.
When you Press ‘Enter’ OR click on the ‘Search Now’ button autology will start your search.

Already Autology has been concept matching the information you entered and you will see the following screen : Your search text
The results
Click on the title or the graphic icon to go to the result page.
You can click on the ‘more like this text’ beside the icon. This will bring up a new window with options to see the full text, the original document, just highlights etc. (as below)
Click here to look at just the text from the link. Click here to turn the highlight on which will mark the sections that relate to your search in red.
Click here to look at the original web or text book page.
Click here to close the window to go back to your search.

Log into Autology World. (see previous page titled ‘Logging into Autology World’ if you are not already logged in)

Go to the start menu in Windows and click on the AWE software icon. (You may find this in the Start, then Program Files area)
This is ‘Push Technology’ It works by watching what you are entering, looking for and then automatically bringing relevant information to you.

A log-in window will appear. Enter your username and password.

The AWE indexing window will open and will look like this.

You can close this window the AWE system will still be running.
The Autology Toolbar is now loaded and running. 6.
When the application is indexing you will see the toolbar in the top right hand corner of the office application you are using. Current programs supported are Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Lotus Notes.

As you enter information into your document the icons (14,16,18 etc.) will illuminate and bring you information that matches what you are writing. When an icon is illuminated all you need to do is click on one of the icons and a drop down menu will appear. Selecting any of the links on the drop down will take you to the document or webpage that has the information you require.

When you have finished using the toolbar always go to the system tray at the bottom right of your screen and right click and exit the AWE. Remember the more detailed the information that you submit the more relevant the information that is pushed to you. A little extra knowledge will bring you extra information back !
