Task 1: Time-Line To begin, CLICK HERE to go to a very useful website with a FULL time-line for you to explore. Explore the time-line and make notes using the page below. YOUR task is to make your own Time-Line which includes the following 10 items: 1. The FIRST pernament image 2. The FIRST photo of a person 3. The FIRST ariel photo 4. The FIRST colour photo 5. The FIRST action photo 6. The FIRST under-water colour photo 7. The FIRST photo from space 8. The FIRST photo-map of the nigh sky 9. The FIRST magazine to publish everything in colour 10. The FIRST digital still camera Copy text and images from exploring the timeline for all of the 10 items above. Place evidence of these notes on your evidence page (Q1) in your eportfolio. (see example below)

To make your own time-line you will use an online tool called: Time-Toast. CLICK HERE to go to this website, register an account (use your school email address) and follow the on-screen instructions. For each item on your time-line you should include: • A picture • Some information (a sentence or two) • Evidence of your source (where you got yout information from) Go to the next page for help: • Making a new account and using Time-Toast


CLICK HERE to open TimeToast in a new window. Minimise this window to return to these instructions. Make a new account: If you are new to this online tool, you will need to make a new account. Like most online websites/ tools this will require you to set up a username and password. Follow the guidance below: Step Instructions Visual help

On the TimeToast website near the top right of the window, you should see a link to allow you to 'Sign Up!'. Click this link to get started if it is the first time using this tool. To sign up, make sure you use your school details so that these can be easily remembered!

You may also need to access your email, so use your school email account too. Use a password which is the same as your school account and write these details into your school planner. Tick the box to agree terms & conditions and


them hit the SIGN UP button. A confirmation message will appear on screen. You now need to go to your school email and follow the link to activate your new account on TimeToast.

After clicking on the link (check your email), you will then be directed to the log in screen.

Enter your account details correctly and hit the Log in button to begin.

To make a new time-line click on the link called: + Add a new timeline.

Making new Time-Lines: Begin by giving your new timeline a description (Title): Title: Task 1 - My Photography timeline NB: You may also like to give your new timeline a picture 1 too. Simply find a picture that you would like, save it to your PC and then follow the instructions to upload it. Click on the button called: GO when ready. Items within the timeline are called: Events. You can add as many 'Events' 2 to your timeline as you like. To add your first event, click on the button called: + Add an Event. As your first event will be 'First Pernament Image', this is what your event should be called. The year of this event is: 1826. Therefore add this date into the space provided. The 3 day for events may not be listed. If you do not know the day, simply set to 1st Jan. From your research, Add the relevant text and information for your event and upload a picture too.


When all information is added, click on the button called: 4 Create Event to add it to your timeline. Repeat this process until all 10 events are included in your timeline. 5 You can preview your timeline at any point by using the VIEW TIMELINE link which is located at the left side of the screen. • Go to the next page for help in Sharing your timeline/ adding your work into your eportfolio >


Sharing your TimeLine and adding it to your eportfolio: When your timeline is complete, you will need to add a copy of your work to your eportfolio as evidence. 1 To do this, begin by clicking on the link called: YOUR TIMELINES which is located near the top right of the screen. Before you can 'Share' your timeline/ work, you will need 2 to 'Publish' it. Click the link called: PUBLISH Then click on the main link of your timeline or use the: VIEW link to view your published work. 3

When viewing your work, under it you will see a variety of ways that allow you to share your work. Click the link called: EMBED/ SHARE. You will then see some options that will allow you to share your work/ timeline.

1. DIRECT LINK: This is 4

the weblink which is linked to your work. 2. EMBED CODE: This will allow you to embed a copy of your work on other websites.


Use the EMBED CODE by highlighting and copying the code, use the right-click mouse function, or hold down the CTRL button and press 'C' to copy this code. Now go to your eportfolio (where you found these instructions) and scroll down 5 to your evidence pages. Click on the Q2 tab to open this evidence page. Find the HTML button on the tool bar and click it to open 6 the HTML editor. This is how you can add copied HTML code onto your evidence page.

When the HTML edit box opens paste your copied code by using the right mouse click 7 function or by holding CTRL and pressing 'V'. Then click on the SUBMIT button when done.

You should then see a copy of your work/ timeline appear on your evidence page. 8 Tick the box to confirm you have finished the page and click on SAVE. Well done!
