For this assignment you will be required research and present information and facts about a chosen artist by writing up your findings. Throughout the project you will perform a variety of research and investigation skills in order to fully understand the work of the artist, and facts about the artist you have chosen to work with.
Task 1: Research 1. Begin this assignment by selecting an artist to use for your work. Use the 1st weblink icon (EXPLORE) to go to a webpage with a variety of artwork created by many different artists. Look at the examples of artwork (click on the thumbnail images for larger versions) and then select ONE of the examples to help you get started. 2. Under each of the thumbnail images is the name of the artist that made the artwork. Use this name as a starting point for your research. Using a range of searching techniques such as: Internet, books, magazines, talking to teachers, parents and friends. Find out as much information about your chosen artist as you can, but you must include the following basic information such as: the artists name, place of birth, the type of artwork they were most known for (Portraits, Landscapes, Sculpture etc). Use the 2nd weblink icon above to go to a set of useful websites to begin your research. 3. Make written notes and copy and paste relevant text and images onto a word document as you research your artist. Print this information out for your sketchbook, so that you can refer to it in class. Stick it into your sketchbook, or write it up neatly.
Task 2: Writing up your Artist information 1. To help you write up your information and present your work a worksheet can be downloaded by RIGHT-CLICKING on the document icon (EXPLORE) and selecting SAVE TARGET AS. After you have saved the document to you PC, click on OPEN button to open the worksheet and begin your work. 2. Enter your name and form into the text boxes and then add your information into the appropriate text areas. Include images where possible to help illustrate your information and facts. 3. Your conclusion should include some basic structure such as: What did you find out? Why did you choose your artist? How does the artists work make you feel? This should be a summary of your findings. 4. Complete your worksheet by including your sources of information. List and include any websites (URL's), names and authors of books etc. 5. Use the worksheet icon (EXPLORE) to view an example of this assignment.
Submitting your Worksheet: 1. Use the SUBMIT WORK button at the bottom right of the assignment page to submit your worksheet. 2. However, try to convert your worksheet to PDF format before you submit it. If you do not have a PDF converter use the PDF icon (EXPLORE). If you are using school PC's, with your worksheet open go to FILE > PRINT then select the PDF printer from the options and then click print. When asked to save your work save it into an appropriate location and give it an appropriate file name such as: A2 Artists Joe bloggs. If you struggle to convert your work to PDF, submit it as a word doc. 3. Next click on the SUBMIT WORK button and use the bottom (2nd) browse button, locate your worksheet and click open/ OK. 4. After this you will return to the assignment page, click on DONE at the bottom left to go to the next assignment or to check your markbook history.
