Task 1: Using MS Paint to make your Mondrian ICT Painting 1. You will need to use the work previously done in your sketchbook for this task, so ensure that you have your sketchbook handy. 2. Open the program MS Paint. Go to: Start > Programs > Accessories > Microsoft Paint 3. Maximise the screen by clicking on the middle button of the options (top right corner of the page). 4. When the window is maximised, pull out the page by clicking on the grab handle at the bottom right corner. Pull the page out so that it fill the screen. Your work area should now be ready to start the task. 5. On the left of the screen you will see a tool box. The tools in this area are what you will use to create your Mondrian picture. Practise using all of the tools before you start your work so that you understand what each of them will do. Change the colours and size as you practise. 6. After you have spent time practising using the tools, save a copy of your practise and then open a NEW file by going to the FILE menu and select NEW. 7. Using your drawing and your selected area (via the view finder) use the LINE tool to draw the lines that you need on to your work. Ensure that the colour for your line is black and that you have adjusted the size of the line to the largest option. Put in place ALL your required lines. Double up the lines if you think they are still too thin by simply drawing another line along side your existing ones. 8. When all your lines are in place you are then ready to add your blocks of colour. To do this you will need to use the FILL tool. 9. You will only use the colours that Mondrian used for his work, and you should put the colour where you have used them in your painting! Use the colour palette located at the bottom left of the screen. After selecting your colour, position your fill cursor on top of the space you need to apply colour and click. This will then fill your chosen area with colour. 10. If you make a mistake, don't worry, go to the EDIT menu and select UNDO.

Task 2: Saving your work and submitting your sample 1. When you have finished your Mondrian ICT work you will need to send it for marking. To do this follow the procedure below: 2. Save your work to your PC. Ensure that you use a suitable file name and that you use a correct file type (.JPEG). 3. Go to FILE and select SAVE AS, enter a file name, select a location by using the options in the SAVE IN feature, at the bottom of the window you will see an option for SAVE AS TYPE, use the menu and select JPEG. Then click on SAVE. 4. Next you need to SUBMIT your work online. To do this go to the bottom right of this page and click on the button called SUBMIT WORK. Then use the bottom BROWSE button and locate your work from your PC. After selecting your work, click on the OPEN button. Then click on OK. 5. You will then return to this page and a blue message will be displayed at the top of the page to confirm your action. 6. Finally go to the bottom of this page and click on the button called DONE.
