Hapilu is a series of bowls in bright cheerful colours to be used, for example, for snacks, tapas or tea. The same pattern is repeated in all the bowls, which come a wide range of colours. The bowls are made of plain and dyed porcelain. The form is based on an old pattern from a glass bowl, which Pia Lund refined and elaborated at the potter’s wheel. Pia Lund has been fascinated with crystal glass since she was a child, and she has reused this pattern and reinterpreted it in porcelain. Hapilu is about nostalgia and joy (Crafts Collection 15).

The silhouettes are each unique. The decoration is partly controlled by the casting technique, hand painted and inlaid into the cylinders layers. Due to the translucency of porcelain one can see through the multiple layers. The inspiration is from the forest, where ambiance and perspective creates poetry. In the largest cylinders “Silhouettes from the woods, which was exhibited at Crafts & Design Biennale 2011 in Kolding (Denmark), six layers of ceramic material is stored.

Inspired by seashells. The bowls are molded in up to four layers, then transformed with a gas burner, that sometimes quite penetrates the porcelain. This affixes violent and partially uncontrolled decorations, which creates a nice contrast in the porcelain with many small interesting layers. There are no two alike.
