SEATTLE CULINARY INSTITUTE
The Seattle Culinary Institute is designed to be a bridging point between Harbor Steps and Water Front Park. This is accomplished via suggestive form and retail collectors along the pedestrian pathway. Views are also an integral part of the design since there are numerous locations with views directly towards the Alaskan Way renovation. The design also caters to the culinary school, through spaces and accommodations catered specifically towards culinary learning.

PITKIN [LEARNING+RESEARCH CENTER]
The Pitkin Learning & Research Center is derived from the idea of transparency between interior and exterior. The building serves to establish a connection between the building and the materials used to construct it, as well as being an integral part of the nursery. There are a variety of wood products used in order to accomplish this. Wood is a versatile material and is applied as both a finish and structure. The landscaping serves as a reminder of how wood products were derived. While the exposed architectural elements within the building reveal the beauty of its juxtaposition and serve to inspire education about forest products. Sustainability wise PL&RC collects water through the roofs which is utilized by the Nursery.

GREENLINE WALKWAY
In this design, the Greenline becomes a cohesive solution that unites the surrounding context, creates an inviting atmosphere for the public, and presents a sustainable vision for the future. This is accomplished by establishing a spine between gathering spaces at vital locations. Sustainability features include such elements as recycled power line cable, photovoltaic arrays, and community gardens that grow food. The pavilions will be partially sunken in order to accommodate the given height restrictions near the hydrocorridor. This will also augment the feeling of shelter and reprieve. The entire Greenline will be given a sense of connectivity by unifying the plantings, materials, lighting strategies and forms. This intervention will take what is currently overlooked and turn it into something that benefits the community of Toronto as a whole.

SUTO TOWERS
riety t This competition design is an exploration into the relationship between an architecture, the virtual world, and site. The building includes a variety of programmatic elements. The base floor consists of an interactive area with interactive screen that is supported by a noodle shop, cafĂŠ and ntain lobby area. The towers are a mixture of residential, hotels and a vertical shopping mall. In addition to technology, the towers seek to maintain a connection with nature via the exterior courtyards.

SOLAR VOIDTOWER Cairo,Egypt Cairo,Egypt
The Solar Void Tower is located in Cairo Egypt and takes inspiration from the prominent Islamic culture. Enclosed are a commercial first floor, second floor dedicated to business, with the rest as residential. The aim of the projects is to explore the importance of providing solar access in the midst of future population growth and its resulting architecture. The design of the tower ensures solar access for all of the residents in the units and makes use of courtyards in order to encourage interaction between the residents. In addition the design allows for the harnessing of the Northwestern wind to passively cool the building via wind towers and evaporative cooling. On the ground floor there is a pedestrian walkway to encourage lingering and consumption of goods for the commercial spaces.

PEDESTRIANWALKWAY
The ground floor is the most active and integral space for the success of building. It contains a pedestrian walkway that serves to activate the green space directly in front of the building, as well as the commercial shops and restaurants. The restaurants engage the pedestrians by exposing the inner workings of the kitchen as well offering seating. Thus enticing the pedestrian to linger and engage with each other and the designed spaces.

RESIDENTIALFLOOR
RESIDENTIALINTERIOR What is important to note here is that the building is reflected in order to facilitate construction. In addition to this the fifth floor is the prototype for the odd numbered floors. This floor predominantly contains two bedroom units. And what is unique about this floor is that it encourages interaction through this notion of layered courtyards. This is accomplished via the communal space in the center that serves as a flexible space to host special occasions; this communal space becomes an interior courtyard. However there is also an exterior courtyard that serves the residents of this floor. The intention goes beyond just encouraging interaction on the same floor but pursues the unity of floors above and below (for this portion of the building).

The building envelope consists of a sheet of stainless steel hexagon perforations. The diameter of each hexagon reacts to the proximity of private spaces. For example if the skin is in close proximity to a bedroom the diameter will be significantly reduced.
