Introduction About me
My career
My name is Jolanta Szczepanik, I’m a 28 years old, I’m graduated architect and bygningskonstruktør. In this portfolio you can view my individual and group projects form school and work. Feel free to contact me, if you are interested in my work.
For my professional achievements I can mention Master graduation of Science course in the area of Architecture and Urban Planning with specialization: Architecture for Society of Knowledge at Warsaw University of Technology in 2013 with very good mark, as well as a Bachelor Degree Course on the Architectural Technology and Construction Management Programme at Via University College in January 2011. During the study period I worked for companies such as: APA CAD and Pracownia Projektowa Pawel Tieplow in Warsaw.
After Master graduation I worked in Mutopia Arkitekter office which gave me opportunity to my professional career focused mainly on sustainable development and user design. Afterwards I got along with interior projects, I participated in all phases, starting from conceptual design and ending with supervisions. I worked also in Warsaw’s architectural office - Foroom. This job gave me possibility to work with industrial and office building involving an intelligent model-based process that provides insight to help us plan, design, construct, and manage buildings and infrastructure. 1

The main principle in creating functional courtyard of Museum was providing maximum exibility in the arrangement of internal space. Courtyard can be opened to the adjacent spaces but also temporarily separated while preserving functionality of the museum. The gallery on ground level connects cubic space with the rest part of courtyard. Gallery on the ďŹ rst level is accessed only for maintenance.

Søndersø Outdoor Sport and Education The project area is located to the west of Soendersoe city. The area is surrounded by natural beauty and number of schools with students aged approx. 6-20 years old. Therefore there is a great potential in bringing together the different age students around a common area, and create various activities for different user groups. The main idea was inspired by solar system, eight planets represented by hills to create active space, bounded together with milky way, represented in the project by luminescent path. Each planet turned into a sport activity and a learning area with a focus on science by using main characteristics of solar system in design. http://mutopia.dk/projects/urban/milky-way/

3D Tetris - Bolonga Factory Transformation Bologna factory has been transformed into multifunctional park of sport and art. Main concept of the project is made with respect to the existing structure. Major changes were based on building’s flexibility, which helped to create dynamic design of functions and gave significant character of place. New places of gathering people are designed to encourage different groups of the multicultural society of Bologna to meet in the public spaces. Industry has become perfect spot for mix use structures combining working places, sport activities and cultural areas together with residential neighbourhood. The project itself consists of five main areas-boxes, joined up by a main entrance. Variety of activities in divided area presents their own characters in boxes. Those are the places where the different users and visitors of the building meet each other.

Performative House Energy & Daylight Modelling The aim of this project was to design performative house, which was modelled by environmental factor – the sun to achieve energy sources passively and comfort of living. The project could have been done manually, design sun shades like architects have historically done, but instead it has been fed as parameters into Grasshopper to show the effect of façade curving or self-shading. The best building’s geometry and windows’ configuration were found to keep temperature at max 20 degrees during the year in order to consume less energy – in the summer less cooling use, in winter less heating use. Elements that were investigated: sun’s energy for heating and cooling of living spaces, natural energy characteristics and cost in materials, operable windows.
Due to the fact that the environmental factors are depended on the existing conditions - two different locations were considered: a. Suburban plot, Runowska street in Gloskow; typical for detached building, surrounded by storey houses made of blocks, finished with plaster, mostly with hipped roofs covered with ceramic tiles. Terrain is flat. b.Urban plot, Karczocha street, Warsaw; difficult site, to the north and west surrounded by high-rise blocks of flats, and from the south, express way is present, separated only by acoustic screens. Suburban plot is presented in portfolio.

Quality of Metro Warszawa
Generative Components
Data visualization presents quality and use of metro stations. Data was gathered on survey, in internet and interviews. Grey spheres: Spheres divided into spikes present data of the best stations. Spheres with the most amount of spikes are determined by the people as the best. Size of them varies as well, presenting density of people. The bigger sphere is, the more people are on station. Gradient spheres: Spheres present quality of stations (equipment, information, elevators, toilets, escalators), year of built and possible changes to other means of transportation. Lines: Connect available amenities, facts to the suitable station.
Tower was designed on the course of the Parametric Design. The main structure was made in Micro Station: Generative Component Software and rendered with help of Rhino. Skyscraper is combined of three twisted irregular forms made of glass with steel framing. There are situated with a certain distance from each other to create open space in between for better sun penetration and ventilation. As an addition footbridges and gardens could be designed in between each twisted form to enhance open spaces.
