As a first-generation Spanish-speaking student I had to overcome many challenges throughout school, first was overcoming the language barrier, English. The first years of grade school were tough where I was being left behind but was able to persevere and advance my speaking skills. Fast forward to high school I immerse myself into the arts and drafting where I discover architecture as a passion. Architecture school brought forth another language that connected drawings to life and shaped spaces. I am currently a trilingual architecture student with a new challenge, designing a sustainable future.

San Francisco Tienda Mexicana, Wilsonville OR Jan 2016 - Current (Seasonal)
Cashier, Butcher, Cook, and Manager Started as a part-time Cashier on the evenings after school and became a Butcher during busy summer days. After my third summer I helped around the kitchen by taking orders to the table. I was given the responsibility of being a manager to operate the store while the owners were out of town.
TBG Architects + Planners, Eugene, OR Jan 2019 - Mar 2019
As a Practicum Student I got insight to the design cycle of professional work with opportunities to go to client meetings. Through this experience I became more familiar with building codes and the worklife.
Freelance Designer June 2019- Current
Supervised the construction of a 48’x48’ equestrian barn and designed a few proposals for a future equestrian arena. I provided the client with solutions on how to overcome challenges that he would face building the barn. I also took part in the clean up of blackberry bushes to clear up a path to drive into the farm.
Education
Wilsonville High School 2012-2016
Enrolled in year-round drafting classes modeled by the curriculum of Clackamas Community College. I was awarded for my technical drawings that were submitted to art competitions. I was invited to the City of Wilsonville’s design committee for the redesign of the new Wilsonville city logo.

ACE Mentorship Program, Portland, OR Jan - May, 2015 & 2016
Collaborated with a team of high school students and professionals to deliver a mock project. We met bi-monthly in offices where we would learn about Architecture, Construction Management, and Engineering. Professionals would help us with questions and manage our time accordingly to develop a building to present in front of an audience.
UO Summer Architecture Academy , Eugene, OR July 6 - 30, 2015
Participated in a summer design studio run by James Givens. It was a 4-week crash course to how a design studio functions with a Midterm and Final pinup with a jury review. After this experience it made me more excited to apply for architecture school.

DEXTER LAKE UO ROWING BOATHOUSE Arch 384 | Spring 2018 | Tom Hahn
The University of Oregon’s Rowing Club is requesting a new Rowing facility that will host regattas and will partner with local Rowing Clubs to store their row boats. Another function for the facility is to serve as a destination when going to Dexter Lake. Crystal Lake Boathouse invites people inside and are greeted by views of the lake where spectators can enjoy the views whilst inside the facility. When one enters the user will have a few of the lake and might experience a sense of floating because the ground outside is tucked away. This highlights the rowers experience when they are in the water, in a boat on the water. The outdoor viewing deck provides some of the best views when a regatta is taking place while still having a covered area to provide shade. Gillett Square is a popular desitination for night life seekers looking for a place to enjoy Jazz music within the Sqaure. The Square is enclosed by tall buildings that allow a sense of protection away from the busy life in London. Located on the end of the Row House was a vacant space that allowed itself to be used as a structure that would be perfect for small shops and for apartments. On the ground floor there is a barber shop, book store, and a smoothie bar. On the second floor there is a coffee shop with plenty of seating for those to chose to enjoy their cup of coffee. The Coffee shop also has a private staircase that leads to its own apartment which allows the owners to be very close to home if they choose to take a small break. The staircases along the perimeter are public which lead to the third and fouth floor that have two aprtements each. On the last flight of stairs those who choose to amke it to the top are led into a public rooftop deck where one can choose to involve in discussion or simply get a good glimpse of Gillett Square.

ARCH 484: Housing Bootcamp is a studio run by Michael Fifield. It is famous for the delivering projects every week with a final that is given 2.5 weeks to produce. Community Living is a shared courtyard housing project that is modeled by the courtyard competition brief that previously was held in Portland. A minimum of 4 housing units were required but I saw opportunity for 6 units that were made up of 3 designs that range from 1 bedroom to 3 bedrooms. Cars would be parked in their car ports freeing up the central courtyard for children to play in, have BBQ or to hold community events. Each unit has their own parking spot and has their own private backyard. Living room and kitchen are downstairs while the bedrooms are on the floor above.

The Rowhouse project was our fifth project delivered that had a 10-day deadline. I used revit and photoshop for the first time and given the short timeline this helped me accelerate my learning. The program asked for 4 units with 2 designs. The pattern show follows an “ABBA” sequence. Challenges faced in this was to develop a unit with a 17’x60’ lot with shared walls.

PROGRAM
PIXEL is a mixed-use office building that ties in the urban fabric that Main Street brings in downtown Springfield, OR. This was a group effort of three-person teams where each team develops a program that utilizes the use of CLT construction which is in its glory at the moment as a means of replacing concrete construction costs as well as being very local here in he Pacific Northwest. The building is composed of a food hall on the first floor to invite small food trucks/vendors and the public to enjoy a nice meal in a warm space. The CLT gives off a warm vibe as well as gives a modern aesthetic without taking away from the natural matierality. The second and third floor are office spaces for smaller businesses/ startups. As technology keeps finding its way into the work life it is more dependent for the user to maintain communication with clients. This also allows the user to work from any setting. Sometimes they are looking for a small space and that’s what these small spaces are for to be rented out by professionals looking for a smaller workplace. The fourth floor is an art gallery used to display local artists along with providing a great view of both Eugene and Springfield as the user is surrounded by glass walls. Finally at the fifth floor there is a Cafe that becomes a bar at night.
