ONE & A HALF DAYS IN ACCRA

O N E & A H A L F DAYS I N AC C R A I recently visited Accra, the capital of Ghana, the Black Star of Africa. I was commissioned to photograph the Design Network Africa workshop initiated by the Danish Centre for Culture and Development, and headed by the dynamic Trevyn and Julian McGowan of Source. The aim of DNA is to nurture African designers and showcase their work on an international platform, through workshops and exhibitions and having the work perceived on a par with contemporary Western design, while maintaining an African identity. The photographs were snapped in a day and a half – time I had off from the workshop. I’ve captioned only those that are obscure, like the fish-shaped coffin at Paa Willie’s. Jac de Villiers
