Greetings Mighty Mid-Western Region Teens, Mothers, and Fathers! I am Edward Cotton, V and I would like to formally welcome you all to the 2020 Teen Leadership Conference Reimagined. Although this is not the method we all thought we would be meeting this summer, I am very excited to share this weekend with you. Your safety has been and will always be our top priority in the Mid-Western Region. The entire Regional Teen Leadership Board and I have been working tirelessly to make this conference experience the most memorable yet. I would like to thank our Regional Teen Leadership and Development Co-Chairs, Mothers’ Regional Executive Board, and Technology Chairs for your continued support and guidance to make this weekend a success. Without them, these reimagined experiences would not be possible. In a time where many events have been either cancelled or postponed, we all diligently worked to ensure our teens got the opportunity to be honored and celebrated. This year’s conference theme is “Embracing Our Legacy- Our Culture, Our Heritage, Our Greatness”. This theme is very fitting for these unprecedented times. It sets itself as a reminder to not lose sight and uphold the things that mean the most to us. We can achieve this through actively embracing our history of resilience as a people. Because of this rich history, we know that we can and will overcome this. I encourage everyone to tackle this unique experience with an open mind and engaged spirit. We have planned multiple exciting activities for you to participate in this weekend. I look forward to engaging with you all during this time and showcasing how mighty we are as the Mid-Western Region.
Edward Cotton, V Long live Jack and Jill,
Mid-Western Regional Teen President Program Year 2019-2020
Welcome to the 66th Annual Mid-Western Regional Teen Leadership Conference! I have been so grateful and honored to serve as your Regional Teen Vice President for the 2019-2020 program year. In the midst of an unprecedented and unfortunate start to 2020, I have never been more thankful for my Jack and Jill community. I have not gone a day without talking to someone in Jack and Jill, and I’m blessed to have you all in my life. While we didn't expect to move to a virtual format, your regional officers have been working tirelessly to transform this event into a meaningful TLC experience. This weekend will be filled with a variety of engaging workshops as well as a chance for some much needed face time with your fellow Jack and Jill family. We hope that this weekend can provide an opportunity for fellowship as well as offer useful information that you can use in your daily life.
Noah Laramore
Sincerely,
Mid-Western Region Teen Vice President
Welcome Teens of the Mighty Mid-Western Region to the 66th Annual Teen Leadership Conference (TLC)! I have had the pleasure of serving as your 2019-2020 Regional Teen Secretary, keeping the teens engaged throughout the program year through the jjmwteens social media platforms and newsletter. It has been an amazing and humbling experience working with all our constituents alongside my fellow teen officers and mother counterparts. Though our TLC experience has been altered due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Regional Teen Board has worked diligently to replicate and formulate a memorable virtual conference. Let’s all learn and create a sense of optimism together. I wish for all participants to be fully engaged in this year’s conference and take advantage of the leadership opportunities that will be presented to you this weekend.
Josh Pryor Sincerely,
Mid-Western Region Teen Secretary
Greetings Teens of the Mighty Mid-Western Region, I would like to welcome you to the 66th annual Teen Leadership Conference, which is also our first virtual conference. I would like to thank all of the beautiful and hardworking mothers, who have likely invested triple the amount of time to transform our usual in-person conference to a 100% virtual platform. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as your Regional Teen Treasurer for the 2019-2020 program year. As this was my first experience as a Regional Teen Officer, I have grown tremendously in my leadership qualities. I have had the opportunity to hear the opinions and perspectives of fellow teens and address feedback and concerns. Although this year’s Teen Leadership Conference is online, the Mothers’ Executive Board and the Teen Executive Board promise that we are going to have a great experience despite matters outside of our own hands. I commend you all for staying hopeful, being outstanding leaders, and continuing to remain committed to Jack and Jill during unprecedented times.
Dorian Jones Sincerely,
Mid-Western Region Teen Treasurer Welcome, Mothers, Fathers, and Teens of the Mighty Mid-Western Region, to the 66th Annual Teen Leadership Conference! It has been a tremendous privilege to serve as your 2019-2020 Regional Teen Foundation Chair. This opportunity has allowed me to impact change, while broadening and strengthening my connections with all of you in the Mighty Mid-Western Region. I couldn’t have asked for a more rewarding experience. Despite the complications of the COVID-19 pandemic, the members of the Regional Teen Leadership Board, the Regional Executive Board, and the Regional Team have worked tirelessly to ensure that you have a memorable Teen Leadership Conference. It may not be the conference we expected, but I encourage you all to embody the spirit of the Mighty Mid-Western Region. Together, we can rise above our challenges and be remembered for our impact for years to come.
Aaron Brown Yours in service,
Mid-Western Region Teen Foundation Chair
Greetings to the Mighty Mid-Western Region Teens, Mothers and Fathers, Welcome to our year’s culminating event, TLC Reimagined. It has been an honor to represent you as your 2019-2020 Regional Teen Nominating Committee Chair. I have had the pleasure of working on the first ever allmale Regional Teen Leadership Board, alongside our amazing Leadership Advisors – Chairs Hayes, Wallace and Vukasinovich, and my mother counterpart, Regional Nominating Chair Price Smith. I am thankful to the Teen Nominating Committee and their flexibility as we parlayed into a virtual setting. This journey has been filled with adventure! I have attended both Area Workday Clusters, led my first webinar, participated in countless telephone conference calls, Zoom Bingo games and so much more. For the first time, I initiated having the Teen Nominating Committee meet before TLC, which allowed each elected member to fully engage and contribute to the production of the Candidate Profile Booklet and Election presentations. As we embark upon this virtual experience, I hope you realize that through times of change, we are equipped with the fortitude and skills to adapt to our new normal.
Cole Clark
Yours in Jack and Jill, Mid-Western Region Teen Nominating Committee Chair

No one could have predicted that this would be how we engage for a Teen Conference. We expected to be meeting in St. Louis and “enjoying” the accommodations via dorm living at Washington University. God had other plans. As a result, we exercised our creative muscles and chose to create a different experience. This is not meant to replace what we missed, but to be the best virtual experience we can create for you. I invite you all to take full advantage of your virtual experience. You can still exercise leadership by actively participating in our business meetings. I am especially disappointed that we cannot celebrate our Seniors in the way we have become accustom. They are an exception group and deserving of the celebration we had planned for them. This pandemic has been especially hard for the Class of 2020, but I believe this experience will shape them in an extraordinary way. This experience is unprecedented; therefore, I am praying for and expecting an unprecedented blessing for them. Class of 2020, I salute you and wish you much success in the next chapter of your lives. You represent the BEST of Jack and Jill and I am so proud of all that you have accomplished. I can’t wait to see the difference you will make in our world. Bringing this conference to life would not have been possible without our amazing regional team. After months of planning for an onsite conference, we had to do a quick 180 and pull together an engaging virtual experience. It was an incredible team effort. They truly have lived up to the spirit of our Regional Theme - Living the Jack and Jill Experience: Mission Minded – Dream Driven. Most notably, I want to say a special thank you to our regional conference lead MAL Marvis Donalson. I appreciate your service and sacrifice. Your passion to create an engaging and exciting virtual experience kept the team moving. To our Regional Teen Officers, I am so proud of you. You are a group of exceptional young men. This was the right team put together at the right time to help navigate through this very difficult situation. Your maturity through this has been inspiring. Thank you for your ideas, creativity, and flexibility. Your passion in ensuring that your constituents voices were heard, make you the type of leaders that our world desperately needs today. I am confident that you all will make your mark on this world. President Cotton, you are an amazing leader and it has been my honor to enjoy a front row seat in your leadership development this past year. You make us proud. In Service and On Mission,
Nadine J. Gibson Regional Director
June 26, 2020 Greetings Teens, Mothers and Dads of the Mighty Mid-Western Region. It is an honor to welcome you to the 66th Annual Mid-Western Region Teen Leadership Conference. This year, we celebrate your accomplishments during this past program year, as we have done for many years. 2020 is a milestone, and has been unique in your Jack and Jill journey. We learned how to do things differently, be together while apart, and most importantly lean on each other for support as we embraced technology and all the advances you have shared with us, your parents, over the last decade. Your spirit has been inspiring and most importantly ushers us into a new decade of what your Jack and Jill Journey will evolve into. Each year, our teens are creative in identifying a theme that embodies your vision for the next conference. In 2019, our children voted on the theme, “Embracing Our Legacy…Our Culture, Our Heritage, Our Greatness.” How appropriate, as we embrace a new legacy of the future, and timely as you move forward this year. We are proud of your commitment to excellence, and the determination to make this year yours. The mothers of the Mighty Mid-Western Region and I celebrate you! Our success is reflected in your growth, and the vision of our future in your eyes, in all you do. It has been an absolute joy to work with the Regional Teen Board, who have strongly advocated for what “our teens” really need, and why this conference should reflect your vision. This work has been a pleasure, as it provides hope and builds excitement of what you, the leaders of this young generation will bring to our communities. Director Gibson, REB members, and Regional Team, thank you for your dedication and love of our wonderful organization, and especially our children this year. You continue to give of yourselves tirelessly and please know that it is appreciated. Teens, I encourage you to be intentional with your time during this conference. Please be open to new experiences and establishing new friendships. This is your conference. It will be what you make of it. Please make the most of it. Congratulations to the Class of 2020! We are all proud of you and we will continue to pray and lift you up as you matriculate into your collegiate career. I, along with the members of the National Executive Board, congratulate you and thank you for your desire to work, play, and live together. In Service,
Tanya Hand National Vice President Jack and Jill of America, Inc.

Under the leadership of Regional Director, Nadine Gibson, alongside my Regional Executive Board sisters Regional Treasurer Tanya Watson, Regional Secretary Cynthia Miree-Coppin, National Vice-President Tanya Hand, and the support of an amazing Regional Team, we have worked tirelessly to deliver you a conference filled with unique experiences that you will remember long after your time with Jack and Jill. To the Class of 2020, this year is one that will be in the history books. This is our first Virtual Teen Leadership Conference laced with memories of an incredible year, your sacrifices, and how you triumphed over adversity. A year that I hope each of you is able to look back on fondly, not to focus on the circumstances of the last few months but what lies ahead, and the part you will play. Celebrate your strength and your resolve to move forward in a manner befitting the pioneers that you are. I ask that you remember your journey in Jack and Jill, all of the amazing memories, the lessons taught and wisdom poured into each of you, to develop you into the leaders we know you will be. We expect and look forward to the great things that you will do. To all our teens. I encourage you to continue being mindful of your choices, live in the moment, show love and compassion for others and yourselves, and most importantly face and overcome your fears. Know that you are the future we have nurtured, and this year has prepared you to lead whatever the future may hold. This is how you will “Embrace Our Legacy, Our Culture, Our Heritage, and Our Greatness. With love, we celebrate you now and always, as we stay missionminded to drive your dreams. Welcome to the 66th Annual MidWestern Region Teen Leadership Conference.

Greetings Teens, Families, and Friends of the Mighty Mid-Western Region, Welcome to the 2020 Teen Leadership Conference Reimagined! During these unprecedented times, we are grateful to have spent the past several months working with a dedicated and creative team focused on the capstone of the Jack & Jill experience, the Teen Leadership Conference. Working with the Regional Team under the direction of Regional Director Gibson has truly been a rewarding experience. We appreciate the support, dedication and commitment to our Mighty Mid-Western Region Teens. Our 2020 conference theme “Embracing our legacy, our culture, our heritage, our greatness”, encourages our teens to be agents of change at a time when everything in their lives is being transformed. This program year has been marked by many “firsts” for the Mid-Western Regional Teen Officers. For starters, the Mid-Western Region welcomed its first all-male teen board for the 2019-2020 program year as well as its first male Teen Leadership & Development Co-Chair. Additionally, the region implemented its first male chaperone ratio and requirements for all conferences. And in March, the regional teen officers had to pivot and face the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic while still effectively managing their time to meet the expectations of their regional responsibilities. They have worked tirelessly to communicate and engage with their teen constituents in new and creative ways, to reinforce their vision of the conference theme, and to set and exceed goals for the year. We are incredibly proud of each of them for their resilience and genuine commitment as an Officer and for remaining grounded in their service to the region. The Teen Leadership Conference is a showcase of all the hard work during the programming year by our Regional Executive Board, Regional Team, Teen Advisors, Mother Members, Dads, and Teens. We hope that you will engage in each opportunity presented while making the most of this virtual conference experience. A very special congratulations to the Class of 2020! The Latin Writer Publilius Syrus once wrote, “Anyone can hold the helm when the sea is calm.” The challenge is to hold your grip firm when the storm comes. Class of 2020, you have done just that. You have steered through the battering waves with remarkable inner strength. You will always be a special class, known for your grit and ability to weather difficult circumstances, the exact type of people you want by your side when the storm comes. Remember to remain confident, humble, and committed to the service of others as you evolve to fulfill your true purpose. You are a gift to us and to many others!
