On behalf of the Mid-Western Region Executive Board, I welcome you to our 32nd Biennial Mothers Conference! It has been my pleasure to serve as the Regional Director of the most innovative, creative and dynamic Region in Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated. We call ourselves mighty and indeed, for good reason………. Our might comes from our commitment. Over the past two years we have seen our members demonstrate their commitment to developing and nurturing next generation of leaders. We have experienced record attendance at our Clusters, Teen Conferences and even this Mothers Conference as our members and teens leaned in, soldiered on though sometimes difficult and trying times. Your commitment to excellence is truly impressive.

Our might comes from our faith. As a region we do not mince words when we point to the One who pours out His Grace, sustains our families, protects our children, and reminds us of His everlasting presence. He is our strong tower when our communities are under threat, Light in the midst of darkness and Hope for a promised bright tomorrow. Our might comes from our flexibility. Things that are rigid tend to easily break. Members of the Mid-Western region, we have been forced to pivot, stretch, innovate, create (or re-create) to ensure that our families experience the full value of their membership. We have learned many positive lessons that will serve us well into the future. With this in mind, I want to extend a special word of thanks to everyone who has served in a leadership role over the past two years. With the strength and flexibility of water, we have continued to forge and carve a lasting path toward leadership for children in all of our communities. Our might comes from our LOVE. A community linked by love is mighty indeed! As we continue to show, share, and allow our love for one another to shine, the mission of our organization will remain strong and the dreams will have for children will be realized, thereby ensuring a very bright tomorrow. Enjoy the conference! In Service to Jack and Jill of America, Inc.,

As Chair of the Mothers Conference Planning Committee, I would like to thank you for joining us as we come together to take care of the work of Jack and Jill within our Region, while also taking time to connect or re-connect as sister-mothers within this virtual space over the next few days. It has indeed been an honor to lead the planning effort for what promises to be an information-rich, unique, and enjoyable experience. Our conference theme, Mission-Minded Strength for Today and Dream-Driven Hope for tomorrow, is born out of the importance of understanding that we are best positioned to bear the fruit of exemplary leadership within the lives of children when we remain focused on the mission the Lord has placed before us. Our strength results from leveraging the gifts and talents of our members on behalf of the mission while our hope is based on not only the potency of the dreams but also on our faith in Him who has planted awe-inspiring dreams for children as seed within our hearts with a promise to nurture those seeds until they bring forth their intended fruit. The raised fist with the circle represents the collective power of not only our pink and blue community but also the other communities that come alongside our beloved Jack and Jill in unity and support of securing the next generation of African American Leaders. Indeed, one of the most powerful examples of this occurred during this past program year when national leaders from a number of esteemed organizations gathered together to show up, stand up, and fight, on one accord, to ensure a brighter future for all. And you, likewise, having the option to be anywhere, have chosen to be here. Thank you for your presence and commitment to the work of Jack and Jill. We hope that you take advantage of many of the unique aspects of this conference and come away refreshed, renewed, reinvigorated and ready to serve in your local chapter and communities for children. Finally, I would like to thank the members of the Regional Executive Board, Regional Team and the participants in the inaugural class of the MWR’s Rising Star Leadership Academy for all you have done to deliver this conference at a high level of excellence. Enjoy the conference! Sincerely,
Cynthia Miree-Coppin Regional Secretary Mid-Western Region

When We Show Up When we show up a tsunami of melanized, energized, sanctified kinsman lifts from the sea; A tsunami of powerful life-giving love When we show up the weapons come forth: shields, belts, helmets and swords poised to run into the darkness and say ENOUGH! Weapons placed in the exact right spot by our Mighty Commander, prepared to pray all day and night When we show up the light is discharged and the truth makes all who seek it free When we show up, His people United Marching in steps ordered from above Beautiful brown, crimson, cream, salmon pink, apple green, royal blue, pure white, gold, and purple, the color of royalty We wear our colors inside and out as we perform our Jack and Jill alchemy to distill them down (and strength they embody) to create the strongest pinks and brightest blues When we show up the Lord is honored and the road upon which future leaders must traverse is secured Faith trampling fear Obedience ousting obstructions Grace, power, honor and glory on display reminding the world that the children of the King have come; We are here! Relentless revolutionaries advancing love, mercy, justice and peace When we show up by the power of His Spirit, we manifest both answered prayers and immutable promises as we lay hold of that which will last throughout eternity. When we show up there shall be Strength for today and Hope for tomorrow When we show up and refuse to retreat.
Dear Mothers of the Mid-Western Region, I am honored to bring you greetings on behalf of the 2020-2022 National Executive Board. It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Mid-Western Region’s 32nd Mothers Conference. I would like to congratulate Regional Director Tanya Watson and National Treasurer Nadine Gibson for their phenomenal leadership and service. I want to also thank the entire Regional Leadership Team for their hard work and dedication in all that they do. The Mid-Western Region Conference serves as an important and truly inspiring event. In addition to leadership training and development, it provides wonderful opportunities for mothers to reconnect and forge new friendships. Although the pandemic has caused many changes to take place in our world, it will not change the valuable impact that is made when Sister Moms join together to work for our children and our organization. Your commitment to leadership development and service is evident by your participation. I would like to thank each of you for giving of your time, talents, and resources for the betterment of our beloved organization. Your theme “Mission-Minded Strength for Today, Dream-Driven Hope for Tomorrow” is certainly meaningful and motivational as we look ahead to purposefully use our leadership skills to make a difference in the lives of all children. We are all in this together, and we must lead by example. We must also support each other through kindness and respect for one another by upholding our Guiding Principles in every way. Together, we can show that we are strong moms united as we uplift one another, on mission and on purpose. It is my prayer that you enjoy everything that the Mid-Western Region’s 32nd Mothers Conference has to offer! Again, congratulations and thank you to NT Nadine, RD Tanya, RT Deidre, RS Cynthia, MAL Marvis and all of the members of the Mid-Western Region for your service and commitment to excellence in leadership. Long Live Jack and Jill! In Service For the Children,
Kornisha McGill Brown 27th National President Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated
