JACK FOLIO. Jack Bentley Product Design 2021 .
Hi, I am a 2nd year Product Design student at Nottingham Trent University. My passion and drive for design stems from a deep rooted want for designing user friendly products that can make a difference in peoples lives.
Why Design? I find the design process extremely rewarding. I really enjoy the natural progression from initial ideation to creating and refining a final concept. This keeps me motivated and exited to keep designing new and unique products.

I chose to focus on lighting to give my project a specific direction and narrowed down my final concept from a range of initial ideas.
Align Range. This is the Align Range, brightening up any room with its bold colours and design. The misaligning form factor, when paired with the orange tone, introduces a playful nature to the range of ceiling lights, whilst still maintaining their elegance. The light coming from the suspended bulb reflects off the mirrored stainlesssteel finish on the inside to help bounce light around the whole room. As you walk around the room, you might catch a glimpse of the bulb where the metal doesn’t touch, adding another dimension to the product. This range of lights has been designed for people who want to revisit their playful and childlike creativity. It would coordinate beautifully in a house full of colour, where the owners are interested in bold and unique design.

Brand Analysis. Tails.com is a subscription based business that delivers dog food and dog treats to your house every month. The plan can easily be altered to account for allergies, food your dog doesn’t like and any health issues your dog might have.
The use of light pastel colours creates a soothing feel and welcomes you into the brand. The website is very easy to navigate and uses techniques such as friendly tones and mentioning experts who work there. This lets you quickly trust in the brand and purchase a subscription.

Search Treat Dispenser. This is search. A treat dispenser set that keeps your dog occupied as well as letting you see and interact with them all whilst you aren’t in the house. It comes as a set of 4 dispensers that are recharged in the docking station. Before you leave the house with the dog left at home, you place the dispensers in different corners of the house, preferably where the dog can’t instantly see them. When you are away from the house, you can tell the dispensers to make a specific noise from the smart phone app, this could be your own pre-recorded noise or a default sound, it will then dispense a treat that your dog will find when they have located the noise. You can watch a live feed of your dog on your phone from the different dispensers.
