EXPERIENCE

PREFACE I am an architectural designer on the path to licensure pursuing challenging, meaningful work in architecture and design. With over three years experience in architectural design, a year and a half of which was spent in China, I have had the opportunity of working on projects ranging from 1000 square feet to over 300 hectares, from California to New Zealand, and from modest residential renovations to resort masterplans. My experiences in Asia allowed me to discover that although Rome was never built in a day, China constructs with an energy that attempts to bring fallacy to the proverb. Stateside, I have developed a knowledge of working drawings, the construction phase of design, and the architectural constraints (and opportunities) encountered in real time in regards to budget, schedule, and constructability.

834 DIVISADERO San Francisco, California 2014-2015 tags: commercial, restaurant, San Francisco, retail, renovation Our DMARCstudio team was fortunate enough to be presented with a renovation project of an almost 100-year old auto garage, one of San Francisco more unique building typologies. We made a decision to protect the exterior facade and internal structure while demolishing much of the interior, which would have been unable to integrate with a new building program - a ground floor retail space and restaurant above. My role on this project was in initial concept studies, shell and core design development, tenant improvement design development, 3D modeling of the exterior facade and restaurant interior, and participating in client meetings. This project is currently awaiting a building permit.

Los Altos Hills, California 2015 tags: residential, custom Two Silicon Valley investor entrepreneurs purchased a property in the Los Altos Hills, just thirty minutes south of San Francisco. The existing structure, built in the 1990s, is slated to be demolished and a 5000-square foot home is to be designed in its footprint. Perched on the hillside and wrapped in glass, the design highlights dramatic views of the surrounding landscape - rolling hills dotted in Oak trees.

Under the supervision of my principal, I was responsible for piecing together the drawing set to be submitted for a building permit. Other responsibilities include coordinating with consultants and manufacturers throughout the design process. PLUMBING FIXTURE SCHEDULE TAG

TUANBO ECO OFFICE Tianjin, China 2013-2014 tags: commercial, sustainability, China, exhibition A proposed office and exhibition space focused on sustainable best practices is proposed to be built as a model for future sustainable architectural design in China. The client hopes to achieve LEED certification and aims to implement a wide range of innovative green technologies from a photovoltaic facade to digitally controlled smart sensors throughout the building. My role on this project was in its schematic design phase and visualization. I helped produce drawings, develop the facade concept, create 3D and physical models, create presentations and sat in on meetings with the client throughout the project. 交通分析 设计理念 MASTERPLAN DESIGN CONCEPT OPTION 2

1631 MCALLISTER San Francisco, California 2015

Revisions Project

1631 McALLISTER

tags: residential, multi-family, San Francisco Located in the quickly transforming Lower Haight neighborhood off of Divisadero Street in San Francisco, 1631 McCallister is a four-unit market rate residential project. City planning codes presented several challenges in regards to building mass and fenestration strategies. These issues were resolved through front and rear facades featuring bay windows which expand unit floor area as well as provide additional light to an already tight building footprint. I was involved in the development of construction drawings, code and product research, and coordinating with the client. This project is currently under construction.

MONTESSORI DE TERRA LINDA San Rafael, California 2015 tags: institutional, San Rafael, prefab, Montessori The owners of a Presbyterian church in the Terra Linda area of San Rafael are the clients for an addition to an adjacent Montessori school located on its property. Currently operating out of one building and a portable classroom, the school’s original structure required updates to administrative spaces and restrooms, and a new seperate prefab building to house additional classrooms. The prefab building is scheduled to be constructed by the end of summer 2015, while the addition to the current education wing will be postponed to a later date due to budget constraints. My responsibilities for the project included development of construction drawings, code and product research, and communication with consultants.

CHINA LIVE San Francisco, California 2015 tags: commercial, restaurant, San Francisco, retail, renovation, Chinatown In San Francisco’s Chinatown neighborhood, two neighboring properties were chosen by a local developer to be joined together to form an innovative restaurant, bar and retail space. While their respective exteriors remain, the interiors of both properties have been demolished and redesigned. Together with international interior design firm, Avroko, and local shell and core architect Tanner & Hecht, our office participated in the tenant improvement responsibilities of the project scope. My role in this project was in the development of construction drawings, code and product research, and communication with consultants. This project is currently under construction.

EDIBLE CITY Dujiangyan, Sichuan, PR China 2012 tags: institutional, urban agriculture, China, disaster, urban design China’s western province of Sichuan, rocked by the devastating Wenchuan earthquake in 2008, is undergoing large-scale transformation, giving testimony to China’s speedy, often “devil-may-care” attitude regarding urban and rural development. Dujiangyan, neighbor to Sichuan’s largest city of Chengdu, is a city with a stunning landscape which, despite centuries of urban growth, has continued to seep into the urban fabric. This project is an attempt to help stabilize a rapidly changing landscape through blurring the lines between urban and rural, both physically and culturally. In sum, Edible City is about food security, regeneration, urban agriculture, and strengthening a Chinese community through food. Edible City was a undergraduate thesis project done in my last year with the University of Oregon Department of Architecture under the supervision of Dr. Hajo Neis.
