Urban Transmission MERIDA Flagship Store Combine with Accomandation & Co-working Space U5 Studio: Merida, Co-working Space & Urban

In Tainan, which is rich in culture and historical sites, the superposition of urban textures left over from history has produced many interesting streets. Therefore, traffic is not only a simple movement, but even a way to enjoy life. With the improvement of the quality of life, Taiwan's society is gradually trending towards high-quality and life-like consumption. This time, Merida will set up a brand flagship store in the tourist core area of Tainan. Merida, Tainan Government

West Central Dist., Tainan

and TDRI (Taiwan Design and Research Institute) jointly designed and launched a BOT business model of recreational electric public bicycles limited for Tainan City. This plan not only enhances the unique commemorativeness of Tainan, but also allows the Merida brand to naturally integrate into the lives of Tainan citizen, enhancing the brand's image of being close to the people. It is also an innovative challenge for TDRI to integrate the designed software and hardware at multiple scales.

Site Observation There is a lot of traffic around the base, and some street art activities are usually held on the west side. The performances are concentrated on the pedestrianseparated island, and there is no large-scale performance space. On the south side is the Food Street and Baoan Temple, which is one of the important temples in Tainan. During the celebrations, many people will gather, causing traffic congestion on the road.

It can be seen that the base is located at the intersection of two major bicycle paths in Tainan, and also passes through provincial highways that connect with other counties and cities. It can be known that the base is just in the peak area of a bicycle route.

Urban Sratergy Resident of Community Connect the axis of the last design to make a vertical response. The circulation and space on the north side connect the activities of the community, and the life on the south side connects the residents, forming a circular route for the life of the local community as a whole.

Tourist As the endpoints of the two commercial belts of Haian Road and Guohua Street, a flyover is placed on the diagonal of the base to directly connect the two commercial activity belts to form a commercial chain.Haian Road is mostly for cars, and Guohua Street is mostly for people and motocycle. A transfer station for electric bicycles is set up on the flyover to change the speed of the circulation, like a transmission of the two commercial chains.

Extension of Haian Road Art Street Haian Road often holds market events and street performances. Except for The Spring Square (MVRDV), there is no square with a suitable size as a base for the activities. Our site is located at the end of Haian Road Art Street, and the left side is the underground parking lot of Haian Road. It is hoped that this square can not only be used as an activity distribution center, but also expand the scale of outdoor performances.

Site Plan Sratergy North Site The front façade of Mirada on Haian Road echoes the square set in front. On the north side, the space for the use of bicycles is set up to respond to the bicycle route in Tainan. On the east side is the travel accommodation, which is a relatively quiet and slow-paced area.

South Site The front facade of TDRI responds to another dimension of the square, and the front facade of the Co-working space faces Guohua Street, corresponding to the designed street intersection. The viewing platform set up on the east side can watch the circumnavigation activities of the Baoan Temple from different high-rises, and it also partially blocks the side of the temple, and can also watch the roof of the temple at close range.

Inverting . Street A Community Center that Combines Business and Life U5 Studio: Methodology, Community. Symbiotic

In this design, the street characteristics of Tainan are used through methodology, an attempt is made to three-dimensionalize the street, and the overall symbiotic center can give back to the local residents with a familiar and novel urban feeling. rather than being occupied by cars and motocycles. Let the street become the stage of residents' life. In the next 20 years, Tainan will become a city of culture, entertainment and youth innovation.

West Central Dist., Tainan

In such a future, this information center will play the role of a transfer station, where many foreign tourists can unload their luggage, park their cars, and use other easy means of transportation to travel around Tainan, such as the Second South American Pavilion. , Confucius Temple Cultural Park, Hele Square, Shennong Street, etc. Also through the role of this transfer station, the business activities of the base and the vicinity of the base are improved.

Site Observation The base is located in an important commercial road section in Tainan, with Baoan Road in the south and Guohua Street in the west, both of which are important food streets in Tainan. The ring road on the east side is an important urban node. It can be seen from the photos that this site presents a very strong sense of street in Tainan, which is a community that can represent Tainan.

In this future imagination, I hope to abstract the image of Small-West city gate, which is historically constructed. Originally, Small-West city gate was a node separated from inside and outside of the city. It was a gathering and distributing center for the flow of people, vehicles and transactions. I wanted to take the image of "traffic node" as a core design 17 concept.

Street Feeling The streets and alleys of Tainan are the most representative Taiwanese aesthetics, and many international magazines often refer to the streets of Tainan when introducing Taiwan. The reason why it can represent Taiwan so much is that Tainan has experienced the most complete history of Taiwan. Picture of Baoan Rd. Under the governance of many periods, the city of Tainan has become a carrier with a sense of time and multiculturalism. Among them, the most public space is the street. The reason why the street should be read is to be able to understand the present and past of our environment more truly, to reconnect the rupture between us and the living environment, cultural context, and to regain the right to think about the future subjectivity of the city.

Methodology Design In this method, I deconstructed the scene of the street, and the most basic elements obtained are walls, standing signs, eaves, inner sills, high windows and push-out platforms, which are simplified to obtain the style shown in the figure below. Next, observe the relationship between the relative position changes between elements, discuss new spatial properties, and break through the composition of existing streets. “Like few other places, streets are a public stage where life unfolds, places to go, rather than through.“

Test 1

Divide the facade into nine grids, and then place the two elements randomly (the following are only partial results). These results can roughly be divided into autologous, single-attached, and double-attached.

Test 2

Divide the facade into nine grids, and then place the three elements randomly. The type was chosen from the interesting results of the first test. The façade becomes more expressive, and many of the results are similar to the existing Tainan streets and alleys. But there are also many new facades that have not been seen. The results of the second test can be divided into flow type, staggered type, end point type, and midpoint type.

19

In the third test, the plane is also squared (1*2). Bring the results of test two into test three, and get many continuous facades and complex corners. After

Test 3

the plane has a two-dimensional enclosure, many new space definitions emerge, breaking away from the original deconstructed street elements and forming a new spatial abstraction.

Conculsion From the three tests, some spatial properties obtained by this method can be summarized, namely: self-body, single-connectivity, and double-connectivity. type. By bringing these results into the volume configuration, the test results can be matched according to the required spatial properties or interface requirements.

20

Diagram Take the two axes as the main circulation, and then extend the secondary circulation. In addition, there are many small squares in the design, hoping to allow local residents to make flexible use. Controlling the direction of the line of sight is purposeful. Such as facing Guohua Street, Liang Temple or the old street view.

Floral Café Café Combined with Floral Shop and Hotel at Guohua Street in Tinan U3 Studio: Section Pratice

Individual

Guohua Street, Tinan

2020 Autumn

In this section practice, the inspiration is mainly drawn from the section observation in the commercial space and use in this studio. Then, I choose café and floral shop to be my program. Both of which are based on aroma properties. Try to make the aromas of the two Interlocking. In the observation of the section, I take bar as the main observation of object, and try to understand the different influence between varietal bars on people's interaction. In this design, because of the long and narrow basement, I want to try to discuss the transparency in the design as well.

Baishui Temple A Space That Combines Temples, Churches and Accomdation U4 Studio: Soul Memory, Landscape & Urban Space

The spiritual space may be a space where spirit and god coexist, it may be a space where spirit and nature coexist, or it may be a space where spirit and spirit coexist. For me, all three exist in this design. In this design, the simplicity of material (building materials), the relationship between space and natural elements are the training goals. This design hopes to combine temples and church to merge the spiritual spaces of two different cultures.

Shuijiao Community, Tinan

I focused on the aesthetics of white in this design. This aesthetic concept was transformed from the book of the graphic design master Kenya Hara into the core concept of my design this time. Water is the clue that connects this design. Water is the most natural thing like the human heart. Sometimes it is calm, sometimes it flows slowly, and sometimes it is turbulent. Water is a very soft thing, which can adapt to the shape of various containers, just like a human soft heart.

Base Introduction The base is the junction of Nanshan No. 1 Cemetery and the residential area of Shuijiaoshe. It is connected to Guomin Road in the north and Xindu Road in the west, which crosses the three high-low areas of Zhuxi (small river), slope forest hinterland and Jintang Park.

Mapping The base is connected to the Nanshan Cemetery along the river to the south. You can see many dots representing the location of the tombstone, and the color represents the age of the tombstone. It can be seen that the bottom map has color and black and white areas. The color area is a mixed residential and commercial area, and the black and white area is a cemetery and undeveloped woodland. I put all the surrounding religious buildings on this base map, trying to understand their relationship with the base.

Massing Model Religious buildings have certain rules in the site plan, and they all have religious connotations behind them. The Buddhist building faces south from the north, and the church faces east from the west, so the overall site plan will look like a cross. Finally, the model is made through the transformation of some traditional architectural vocabulary. 40

Heart Place Japanese Aesthetic : Wabi-Sabi, Mono-Aware, Yu-Gen, Zen U2 Studio: Site, Space, Assembly

Individual

With the representative of Eastern aesthetics, Zen, as the design theme, I hope to design a display space of different appearances through Zen calming people's minds, and use the aesthetics of wabi-sabi, yu-gen, and mono-aware in space design. In the space layout, many traditional cultural and architectural elements are transformed, and new architectural techniques are used to integrate the old and the new to show the oriental

aesthetics of different expressions. In order to try to understand these three Japanese aesthetics, I learned the aesthetic of wabi-sabi from the many cases of Tadao Ando, and looked for clues to aesthetic of yugen from the cases of Kengo Kuma, and felt the aesthetic of mono-aware from the novels of Japanese Nobel Prize winner Yasunari Kawabata. Finally, I tried to integrate these three aesthetics into this design.

Main Structure Imitate the structural principle of the traditional Japanese ancient bridge, HaneBashi. Simplify the appearance to form a special wooden texture. This structure can also be seen in the works of Kengo Kuma.

Way of the Heart The design here hopes to induce people to respect nature, so it is particularly towering. At the same time, the two walls make the light and sound easy to enter and difficult to exit, creating the depth of the space, which is a yugen aesthetic view.

Way of the Water Water is the natural object that best represents the heart, sometimes calm, sometimes intense. Regardless of the shape of the container, it can always adapt to containers of different shapes. This is the Zen saying: soft heart.

The movement lines of the base are formed horizontally, so that the newly installed buildings are developed vertically and the movement lines will be flexible. Individual

2020 Autumn

In this design, I designed my own holiday villa based on my life hobbies. For me, vacation is to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, to slow down the pace of daily life, to calm down and get along by myself. I hope to use Japanese gardens, Karesansui, to convey the meditation in Zen. Meditation symbolizes the clam of heart, and Kareshanshui symbolizes the small universe in the heart. The confrontation with Kareshanshui seems to be getting along with oneself.

Parti Karesansui often called a zen garden, creates a miniature stylized landscape through carefully composed arrangements of rocks, water features, moss, pruned trees and bushes, and uses gravel or sand that is raked to represent ripples in water.

In this way, we hope to do something for the disease through the new space. Imagine a new space mechanism between medical personnel, quarantined people, and non-quarantined people. Try to go beyond the restraint

of isolation and allow various activities to occur at the same time; try to liberate the senses and perceptions of the quarantined, so that the isolation is no longer closed; try to create new modes, produce different lines of movement, transportation networks and so on. We hope that these new forms of imagination of space will make the epidemic n o l o n g e r a f e ar i n t h e f u t u re.

Let It Light! Mindfulness Immersive Device Integrating Virtual & Real Academic Research Cooperation: Mindfulness Design Research in Virtual World

" Let It Light! " is an O2O immersive equipment which uses mindfulness and blessing to maintain mental health. Though the Covid-19 cast shadow on the society, people always walk toward light. We use light as guidance, the light shined when we do mindfulness is the power of blessing which send to people who are in different places. We make hope for them and get feedback, this kind of resonance is the link we want give people. The virtual environment also

provides more possibilities. Not only people in different places and different times and spaces can also connect together through the virtual world. The blessings received from the past self or the future travellers are not only through mindfulness. In addition to self-healing, we can also have more energy to return to the real life after the epidemic and continue to work hard-the epidemic will arise at any time, but we still keep the light in our hearts and illuminate others.

Post-Pandemic Era and Gen Z Users The outbreak of the epidemic has caused people more time in isolation and face huge changes in their lives. In the past, physical contact and care could be used to alleviate such pressure. However, due to the severity of the epidemic, the relationship between people was limited. The contact between them is more necessary to get along with themselves, and the z-generation people, who are good at using technology and pursuing their own values, are even more at a loss in the face of the wave of the epidemic. We hope that our products can be used by the z-generation users. Light a ray of hope.

Picture of Usage Scenario

Mindfulness in the Real Life Due to the limited range of external action during the epidemic, we turn inward and seek a stable balance of mind from ourselves. "Mindfulness" has been proven by research to effectively relieve psychological stress and relieve the symptoms of mental illness. Mindfulness is a special state. When entering mindfulness, the brain will emit brain waves of special wavelengths. We use independent space and music, light, The guidance of voice makes it easier for people to enter a state of mindfulness, and uses the gamification mechanism to give people more motivation to use the product. Surrounded by soft light, it purifies the thoughts polluted by anxiety and calms the irritable heart. This is what we fight against the epidemic. The first step to bring about psychological problems. 71

Shadow of Bamboo Sound Following the Mountains and Forests, Swinging the Rhythm of the Train New Generation Exhibition of Taiwanese Bamboo

Extending the vertical and orthogonal appearance of small train, the beauty of the bamboo itself is presented through the change of overall tone and spatial depth, and the original natural feeling of the bamboo forest is expressed by the verticality of the interior space, the openings on all sides and the looming gaps. Bending part of the bamboo, destroying the original pure and clear composition of the facade with the curve, thereby suggesting the movable area and guidingthe sight line of viewing,

and overturning our previous perception of bamboo through the curved form. The sound installation, which is integrated with the structure, seems to let the bamboo begin to breathe. Let the viewer, installation and the environment begin to interact. In addition, through the various scales and moments in the installation, people can stand, squat, sit, and lie down naturally, experience our works in their own way, and present the image of people naturally resting and roaming in the bamboo forest.

Parti Let the bamboo sound and bamboo shadow flow in the space.

76

Diagram The original appearance of the small train responds to the historical context of the site running on the Ali Mountain Railway in the past. The vertical system responds to people's perception experience of bamboo itself, and the modularity of the space allows users to experience the space in the works and achieve the comfort of nature. In the grid system, the virtual space is dug out with the design of vision and circulation, which can escape the limitation of the device on a small trolley and form a space that can be experienced. The bamboo sound device relaxes the experience of the experiencer and enhances the interaction and dialogue between the space and people.
