Leadership Jackson Alumni Association Spotlight Leigh Anne Bentley, 2013 Leadership Jackson Alumni Association Board of Directors, Marketing and Recruitment Committee Company: Younger Associates Job Title: Marketing Services Manger Q: Why did you choose to help with the Leadership Jackson Alumni Association? A: ? I have seen the impact Leadership Jackson has on the community, on the companies that participate and to the individuals that are involved in the program. It is unlike any other organization. So many groups benefit a particular group of people and make a difference to that group, but LJ helps develop the people that go out and make that difference.

Q: What was your favorite memory from Leadership Jackson? A: I think most people say their COPE experience and that would be the same for me. It is amazing how fast and how well you get to know your class. And truth be said, you get to know yourself a little better too. Q: If you could describe Leadership Jackson in one word, what would it be? A: Impactful

Q: What are you looking forward to this year with the new class? A: I love interacting with them and seeing them grow in so many capacities. I had the opportunity to be a part of one of their sessions. They are so engaged and eager to learn. This new class is amazing. I have heard since day one that the individuals in the 2013 class are so proactive and when they see a need, they develop their own ideas to start solving problems. I am looking forward to graduation and seeing them complete this journey, all while knowing their journey has really just begun. Q: What was the most important piece of information that you learned during your Leadership Jackson experience? A: I learned how so many facets of our community are intertwined with others. We are all just a part of a bigger picture. Q: What advice would you give the upcoming class? A: Take it all in and when you graduate, take it with you and use it. Don’t just love the experience and not take the next step to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

First Citizens National Bank Ranks #6 in Best Banks to Work for in U.S.

First Citizens National Bank has been named one of the “Best Banks to Work For.” First Citizens National Bank ranked sixth in the category of banks in the United States with assets under $3 Billion. The program which was initiated in 2013 to identify, recognize and honor the best banks to work for in the nation, is a project of American Banker and Best Companies Group. To be considered for participation, banks had to fulfill the following eligibility requirements: - Have at least 50 employees working in the US; - Be a Commercial Bank, Thrift, Mutual Association, Mutual Savings Bank, Savings and Loan Association or a Savings Bank. In all, 35 banks achieved “Best Bank” status in this inaugural program. The full Best Banks to Work For list is featured in the November issue of American Banker Magazine and is available online at AmericanBanker.com. Determining the “Best Banks to Work For” involved a two-step process. The first step consisted of evaluating each participating bank’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics. This part of the process was worth approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of employee surveys aimed at assessing the experiences and attitudes of individual employees with respect to their workplace. This part of the process was worth approximately 75 percent of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top banks and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process and also analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings. For more information on the “Best Banks to Work For” program, visit www.BestBankstoWorkFor.com or contact Jackie Miller at 877-455-2159.

The award was accepted by Judy Renshaw, Senior Vice President, Business & Community Services, Jackson Chamber and Program Executive, Leadership Jackson, at the 2013 TACL Conference. “It is great to receive validation from your peers about the importance of Leadership Jackson to our community and in developing leaders for the future,” Renshaw said. “We had very forward thinking leaders at the chamber in 1979 when Leadership Jackson was created. Our goal since then has been to continually improve and enhance the program to maximize the end result…graduates informed, empowered and ready to engage in their businesses and in the community.” Leadership Jackson is a leadership development program for those in Jackson who demonstrate leadership potential. Highland Ave. Phone Number: 731-423-2414 Website: www.raineykizer.com About The Company: Rainey Kizer Reviere & Bell PLC focuses on achieving exceptional client representation, satisfaction, and results by providing the highest quality, timely, and cost-effective legal services. Since its founding in 1975, the firm has grown from a few attorneys to forty lawyers and represents local, regional, and national clients from its three offices in Jackson and Memphis,Tennessee. Chamber Connection: What’s new with your organization? Rainey Kizer: Dale Thomas will become firm president on Wednesday, January 1 when John Burleson completes his term of office. At Rainey Kizer, the firm president continues to actively practice law, while also assuming responsibility for providing strategic leadership, management of firm business affairs, and supervision of the firm administrator, who manages day-to-day operations. Chamber Connection: What’s helped your organization become successful in our community? Rainey Kizer: Client satisfaction is essential. From the time an attorney begins working with us, we stress the importance of responsiveness and servicing the needs of the client. We also benefit from the individual efforts of our attorneys and staff. They are involved in many community activities, such as volunteering for local charities and civic organizations, helping out at their children’s schools, coaching youth sports and taking active roles in their churches. As a firm, we look for opportunities to support community-wide initiatives and help with economic development efforts. Chamber Connection: What does your organization do that most people don’t know about? Rainey Kizer: Most people think of us as a Jackson law firm, or a West Tennessee law firm, but we also represent clients throughout Tennessee and the Mid-South, as well as around the nation. Chamber Connection: What are some recent successes your organization has experienced? Rainey Kizer: We are excited about the recognition we received this fall from U.S. News-Best Lawyers™. Eight of our attorneys are included in the 2014 edition of Best Lawyers in America, and Angela Youngberg was named “Lawyer of the Year” in the Health Care Practice Area for the Memphis region. That same publication just listed six of our practice areas as “Tier One” in the Memphis region. We are proud of Bradford Box, the new president of the Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association. Also, Box was just named by Governor Bill Haslam to the Tennessee Commission on Judicial Appointments. We are also proud of Latosha Dexter, who is beginning her term as president of Girls, Inc. in Memphis, and of Angela Youngberg, who is completing her term as Chair of the Health Law Section of the Tennessee Bar Association. Our recent annual employment law seminar, which the firm co-sponsors with the Society for Human Resources Management and Union University, was a tremendous success this year, with a record 120 employer representatives attending the all-day event held on the Union campus. Chamber Connection: What are some of the future goals of your organization? Rainey Kizer: We are now one of the 20 largest law firms in Tennessee, and we just increased our Memphis office space by 30 percent to allow for expansion. We want to continue to grow, but to grow in a way that is sustainable and that maintains our firm’s culture of prioritizing client service and community involvement. We don’t want to get bigger just to be bigger. Chamber Connection: What’s the biggest community project you’re working on right now? Rainey Kizer: This year, the firm became a sponsor of the WestStar Leadership Program operated through the University of Tennessee at Martin. WestStar does a great job identifying, encouraging, and equipping community-minded people who want to become more involved in helping West Tennessee become a better place. We see this as an opportunity to be part of a network that is shaping a positive future for West Tennessee.
