City Celebrates Jackson Generals 2012 Season Winning the North Division Series and advancing to the Southern League Championship Series for the first time since 2005, “Your Jackson Generals” completed a stellar 2012 performance. A banner year attendance-wise and accolade-wise is just the beginning. Whether it is on the field, in the stands, behind the concession counter or at the gates, we are all a part of the excitement of game days at the Jackson Generals Park. On Tuesday, October 30, the Jackson Chamber, Jackson Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Jackson Downtown Development Corporation held a celebration at the chamber to recognize the Jackson Generals successful 2012 season. “The 2012 Jackson Generals season was a success both on and off the field,” said Jason Compton, General Manager, Jackson Generals. “The team won the North Division of the Southern League and fell just two wins shy of winning our 2nd Southern League Championship. Off the field, we were able to increase attendance 25 percent over 2011 and our second highest attendance since 2005.” Compton said the Jackson Generals team and his staff were the reason for the success over the past year. “The team was great,” Compton said. “We changed the way we approached entertainment at the Park and we have the best front office staff that we have ever had.” Compton said that they also hope to make a few changes for the upcoming 2013 season. “We have to grow our season ticket base and keep finding ways to get more and more people coming to games,” Compton said. “We also have to continue striving to have the best customer service and most fan friendly ball park in all of Minor League Baseball. We do not have the luxury of being in a larger market with a bigger population base. We need people from all over West Tennessee to come to games. Not just to come to one, but to have such a great time that they want to come back and bring their friends and family with them.” Compton said he has been proud to work for the Diamond Jaxx/Generals organization over the past 12 seasons. “Being from West Tennessee, there is nothing that I am more passionate about than providing the best entertainment and baseball for everyone in the region,” Compton said. “I am looking forward to leading the organization into the future as we continue ABOVE: Jason Compton (LEFT), General Manager, Jackson Generals, and Chris Harris (RIGHT), Manager of Media Relations and Broadcasting, to get better and have more successes to celebrate.” Jackson Generals, presented the statistics from the 2012 season

TVA’s IEDC Gold Excellence in Economic Development Award: It was and is a Team Effort TVA recently received a Gold Excellence in Economic Development Award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) for its “Megasites Certification Accelerates Success” Program. TVA was cited by IEDC, the world’s largest independent nonprofit membership and research organization devoted exclusively to the field of economic development, for excellence in the category of “multi-year economic development programs for communities with populations of greater than 500,000.” The Megasites program is a big success story for the region. TVA began to develop the program in 2004 when indications were that major international automotive OEMs might be searching in the coming years for new locations in North America, in order to move manufacturing closer to their markets.
