“We came to Springfield on a whim,” says homeowner Tiare. “It was back during the real estate recession and our mortgage was bleeding us dry. We had a friend living in the neighborhood who suggested we rent our house and live with her temporarily until we could catch up. We fell in love with the neighborhood and have been here ever since.”

In fact, since 2008 Tiare and husband John have lived in three different houses on the same street. “We’ve only owned it a little while, but what we’ve been told is that this house is a Sears Catalog kit house,” says Tiare. “I’ve tried to research this and also have bought a few books, but so far I have not found the exact floor plan of this house.”

The couple is currently in the early stages of renovating the house. John is a residential contractor, which has come in handy during their time residing in the neighborhood. Previous renovations of the home resulted in the loss of some of its historical integrity. However, the couple is working diligently keep its charm intact and bring it back to life after several years of neglect.

When not restoring homes, the two enjoy playing disc golf, paddle boarding, yoga and otherwise staying active. Their daughter has left the nest is out on her own. Now, Tiare admits to being a “newly obsessed plant mom.”

“There is never a lack of something to do in Springfield,” says Tiare. “ I think what we enjoy the most is the way we connect with our neighbors. The sense of community is super strong here and it doesn’t matter if you live right next door or on opposite sides of Main Street to know your neighbors well. We know we live in the best neighborhood in Jax and we flaunt it.” *
