Resume (Abridged)

Little Tokyo Maker Space Professor : Rob Ley Maker Spaces are defined by their ability to inspire and incubate innovation. These are spaces of self-guided and group assisted learning. In order to cater to this method of working, it is important to create an environment where users can absorb the efforts of their peers, creating an atmosphere of technique and information sharing, not unlike the atmosphere in the artists and architects studio. By allowing the fabrication spaces to hold the programmatic elements together, a higher level of communication can occcur. Ushering these spaces of creation to the forefront will allow users to grasp the capabilities of the equipment and the knowledge at their disposal.

Marshall School of Business DTLA Extension (In Progress)
Team Members: Xixi Zhu, Alexandra Thomopoulos Professor : John Dutton Situated in the heart of the theatre district of downtown Los Angeles, this project proposes a solution to bridge the newly inserted business school to the existing urban fabric. This is acheived by focusing on creating a vertical urban campus, defined by a disintegrated urban border and highlighted public open spaces. Programmatic divisions are created between the two building masses that allow the public spaces and private spaces to coexist without interjection from their counterparts.

Professors: Brendan Shea, Yaohua Wang Stemming from an etymological investigation of physical actions and characteristics, a series of operational excercises is conceived in an attempt to transcend preconcieved connotations in the geometric qualities of lines, surfaces, and solids. By utilizing and warping the attributes found in ‘flat’ items it becomes possible to replicate the primarily object-based qualities of volume, boundaries, and gravity.
