Hogger is used primarily for removing vast amounts of clay, especially when there is a change in design direction. It is good for cutting back the clay prior to adding hot clay when dragging in new sections. It is also used for cutting away when transferring points as in creating a symmetrical model. This hogger has teeth on both sides. Very sturdy blade and the handle is large enough to fit your hand.

Rakes are available in both curved and straight edges and also with and without teeth. This is the one with teeth on both sides. The main purpose of a rake is to remove material in an efficient manner, therefore giving you a clay form that is representative of the design required. Rakes are used in a crisscross pattern when spreading the clay bodies and cutting through peaks and troughs in the clay surface.

Rakes are used in a crisscross pattern when spreading the clay bodies and cutting through peaks and troughs in the clay surface.
