Homeware Project

03 Deadgood project

Research and ideation

After researching different homeware designs online and seeing what products are already on sale, it gave me a good understanding of a range of ideas that I was able to develop further. The main area of homeware products which I looked into was office products e.g. desk tidies, bins etc.

Research and ideation

From experimenting and trying out different ideas, and being able develop my ideas further has helped me come up with an innovative and unique design which is suitable for the brief I was given.

Homeware product

After developing my concepts and final ideas, the desk tidy product was the design which I found most unique and innovative. Also, a decorative design which blended nicely with its surroundings and environment.

Research and ideation

After taking out research by looking at existing products on the market and the designs I would be competing with, ranging from living room, bedroom, kitchen storage units etc. From doing this, it inspired and gave me a wide range of new and unique ideas that I could implement into my own sketch work and then develop them further. I specifically targeted modular storage in my research as this type of style is what interests me the most, as I feel it brings a unique, professional and unique look to the designs.

Research and ideation

These sketches originally came from looking at modular shelf designs to give me an idea of the different shapes and styles I could use for my design.

Unit storage

The target audience I chose for this design was university students. This was because I felt this type of modular style would fit best within the environment and most suited for the type of audience.

Research and ideation

To start off this project I firstly, researched many different varieties and designs of pendant lamps, this was to get a good idea of the style they’re designed in and also looking at different environments they're used in to try and focus more on a specific style of lamp, which would be more suitable for my target audience and would fit in with their environment.

Sketches and development

My ideation came from looking at different styles, materials and the shapes of pendant lights

Sketches and development

The reason for choosing BMW as my target audience was because I was mainly looking and focusing on designs that would look suitable in environments such as offices. Therefore, the design of my lamp had to be quite simple looking and not very complex so then it would fit in with its surroundings.
