HOW TO MAKE: A POLYMER CLAY SEA TURTLE NECKLACE A STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTION GUIDE
STEP #1:
Let’s begin! Start by laying out all of your materials for the project. You will have everything you need!
STEP #3:
Next, grab a color of your choice to add colorful details on the turtle’s shell.
STEP #5:
Once you have rolled it in a ball, begin to place it on the shell to form the turtle’s head. 1
STEP #2:
Grab the green clay and begin rolling it into a ball. Then, pinch the upper half to form a shell shape.
STEP #4:
After you have finished the shell, grab the tan color and begin to roll it into a ball.
STEP #6:
Now that you have formed a head, pinch off smaller pieces of clay to form the arms and legs.
STEP #7:
After you have formed the arms and legs, grab a small white and black piece of clay to make eyes!
STEP #9:
Take the long green worm-like piece of clay and place it around the turtle’s shell.
STEP #11:
If you want, you can add more colors to your sea turtle’s shell before we bake it.
STEP #8:
Next, roll another green worm-like piece out. We’re about to put this on the shell.
STEP #10:
Now, grab the clay tools and add some detailing to your sea turtle’s arms and legs.
STEP #12:
Use your clay tool to stick a hole all the way through your turtle. This is what the string goes through! 2
STEP #13:
Now it’s time to bake your turtle! Place it at the bottom of the cupcake holder.
STEP #15:
Now, take your scissors and cut some of your string. Make sure it is long enough for a necklace!
STEP #17:
Tie a knot at the end of the two strings so that the turtle stays on the string. 3
STEP #14:
Bake your turtle on 275 degrees for 15 minutes and wait an extra 5 minutes for it to cool.
STEP #16:
Put the string through the hole that we made earlier in your turtle.
STEP #18:
And... you are all done! Enjoy your handmade sea turtle necklace! Great job!
