The Wilderness; exploring the unknown, becoming one with nature and living off the land. From our concept of ‘Wilderness’, we have chosen to adapt shapes, patterns and textures found by those living in the woods. We also derived the silhouettes of cocooning and layering. Ranging from the idea of people trying to combat the weather in the woods in the autumn and winter. The Womenswear and Menswear will focus on the idea of protection in the ‘Wilderness’, visible stitching and large exposed pockets create a striking garment suitable for Wilderness survival. Some of the fabric may be treated to make it look lived in; giving it a unique look that is associated with the Urban Outfitters’ Rework collection. The Knitwear will take inspiration from natural forms, growths and plants; growing, alive and dying. The Knitwear will also take inspiration from the idea of keeping warm. Wadding, fringing, lace holes and ribbing are just an example of some of the knit stitches and techniques that will be explored. The Prints will take the form of illustrative representations of the Wilderness, its effects and the stages of weathering it experiences.
