Monday: A recording session for a local artist kicks off the week. The artist spends the day in the studio, working on new album songs The session is lengthy, but the musician is eager to contribute to the creative process.

Tuesday: The musician has a rehearsal with a band with whom they often play today They spend the day reviewing new material and fine-tuning existing songs to prepare for an upcoming show Following practice, the musician goes to a bar to jam with other musicians late at night

Wednesday: The musician spends the day rehearsing for an audition. Students practice scales, arpeggios, and the songs they will perform during the audition In the evening, the musician gives a private session to a pupil interested in learning to play the guitar

Thursday: The musician has the day off today They spend the morning catching up on emails and social media and the afternoon rehearsing new instrument methods. The musician attends an evening concert to watch one of their favorite bands perform

Friday: The musician has an early morning television appearance scheduled. They perform with different musical guests throughout the day as part of a talk show's house band After the performance, the musician goes to a rehearsal for an upcoming musical in which they will be performing

Saturday: Today is the musical performance day. The musician spends the day practicing with the rest of the cast and reviewing the music The performance goes off without a hitch, and the musician is pleased to participate

Sunday: The musician records tracks for a producer who has engaged them for a remote recording session. They record many takes of each song for several hours to ensure the producer has many possibilities throughout the mixing process

As you can see, the life of a session musician is always exciting. It takes a great deal of effort, attention, and adaptability Nonetheless, being a part of many diverse musical projects and working with many brilliant musicians is fulfilling If you want to be a session musician, you must be willing to put in the time and work necessary to succeed.
