Library is positioned as a threshold between the surroundings of west Philadelphia + the Urban LINC.

Open floor plan divided into 3 main spaces of various ceiling heights

Mechanical system Site-wide geothermal system heats and cools air

Site induced diagonals contrast orthagonal, interplay with curves defining multi-story spaces

All concrete structure + stud walls with brick veneer

Basement located forced air system circulates said air into all spaces of the library. Vertical shaft is located in ‘dark’ area next to elevator

‘Dark’ Areas house service areas (restrooms, offices, fire stairs, elevator, mechanical systems)

Simplified arrangements are on upper floors due to lack of enclosed rooms. Air handling follows general geometries of the architecture.
