STORY & ART BY JACOB HALTON
THIS BOOK WAS ORIGINALLY STARTED AS PART OF THE 24-HOUR COMICS DAY PROJECT (24HOURCOMICSDAY.COM). THIS WAS MY SECOND YEAR ATTEMPTING TO FINISH A 24 PAGE COMIC IN 24 HOURS. THE FIRST YEAR, I HAD BEEN AT WORK ALL DAY FRIDAY, GONE TO A HARDCORE TECHNO CLUB UNTIL 4 IN THE MORNING, THEN WENT HOME TO SLEEP FOR A COUPLE HOURS BEFORE GETTING TO THE COMIC SHOP WHERE I DREW FOR ABOUT 22 HOURS, PENCILING 18 PAGES AND INKING 11 OF THOSE. FOR THIS YEAR, I WAS DETERMINED TO HAVE A FINISHED PRODUCT BY THE END OF THE NIGHT. THIS ENTIRE STORY WAS PENCILLED (SKETCHED) AND LETTERED, AND SOME OF IT INKED BY THE TIME I WENT HOME. THE FOLLOWING MONTH WAS SPENT TUNING UP THE ARTWORK AND INKING IT IN PROPERLY. SOMETIMES, THE ONLY WAY TO GET SOMETHING DONE IS TO JUST THROW YOURSELF INTO IT, NO MATTER HOW HARD IT SEEMS, OR YOU THINK YOU MIGHT FAIL (BECAUSE IF YOU DO, WHO CARES?) I LOVE 24 HOUR COMICS DAY, AND WILL KEEP DOING IT AS MANY YEARS AS I CAN. I HIGHLY SUGGEST TO ANYONE WHO HAS A PASSION FOR MAKING COMICS TO PARTICIPATE IN IT—EVEN IF YOU CAN’T FINISH, YOU’LL LEARN JUST HOW MUCH YOU CAN PRODUCE IN WHAT SEEMS LIKE NO TIME AT ALL.
