SUIT PORTER 5 WEEK PROJECT - PORTABLE SUITBAG FOR BICYCLING
CASE Suit-Up
Businessmen need suits on the job. It is a “uniform that communicates professionalism, power, status and style.
Almost Impossible
Bicycling in a suit is almost imposible. The suit gets muddy and wrinkled on the way. It is too stiff to ride in, and nobody wants to arrive at the job all sweaty.
Bicycle Revolution
Biking to work has become more prestigious, as it shows that you value the environment and personal health. On top of that, it has also become fashionable.
Jacob R. Brinth
Page 6
CONCEPT Careful folding
The suit is folded in half, over the spine. By inserting one shoulder pad into the other, they support each other. This way, the size is minimized, without wrinkling the suit.
Placement
The bag is placed around the top tube, to make use of the potential space between the cyclist’s legs. This leaves the front and back carriers open for other luggage, if needed.

CRAFTING Traditional Aesthetics
The targeted users are careerminded businessmen. In general their clothing and accessory style is more traditional, and made of authentic materials, in this case: Metal, leather and wood.
Workshop
First phase was working with transparent paper models. After adjustments were made, I drew a papir template. Then I constructed a basic wool model. The next step was leather.

PROTOTYPE Modern Angles
The shape itself is unique, which gives the classic construction a modern twist. The strapbuckles look old-fashioned, but these are magnetic. This gives the user a smoother interaction.

IDEA Storageroom n’ Showroom
Bringing your bike inside is an effective way to keep your bike safe... and showing it off at the same time. Hanging it on the wall even saves floorspace, and it looks amazing.
More Flexibility
The aim is to make a simple shelving structure, that is easy to move around. Multifunctionality is also a keyfactor in modern minimal living.
Jacob R. Brinth
Page 16
INSPIRATION Scandinavian Touch
The approach is to create a minimalistic construction using “honest materials. The light weight appearance should be complimented by stable and straight lines.
No Screwing Around
Leaning against the wall saves you from drilling any holes in the wall. Using tension and friction, the construction could hold itself entirely without screws.

Page 17
CRAFTING Strong Wooden Structure
The main structure consists of turned oak posts. The turned wood is slimmer in the ends to fit into the steel pipes. Friction, and it’s own weight, secures a stable structure.
Simple Joints
The steel joints are cut into angle and welded together. They are sanded down, covered with primer and matte black paint. They are topped off with matte paint sealer.

SCENARIO Head Hight
VĂŠlomonte keeps the bike up and away from the floor, to make room for decoration, shelving or just shoes. The bike is mounted at an average male hight so it is easily accessible for almost anyone.
Have a Look
When the bike is elevated from the floor, it is much easier to give it a check up and tighten a couple of loosened bolts.

BRIEF Magazine Type of Girl
This project is based on a magazine, and it’s targeted readers. A danish magazine “iForm” is a lifestyle magazine containing articles and images of yoga, running, food diets and bits of popculture.
Fitness Females
The targeted reader is a middle aged mother who has smoothies for breakfast, drives a VW Up, and uses the Nike + running app on her new iPhone. A little generalization is OK!

Keep it Simple
Camilla (our targeted reader) has a jam-packed agenda: Feed the kids in the morning, job all day, picks up kids from school, runs, yoga and so on... She does not have time for complicated kitchen apparatus.
Y
Keep it Slim!
Camilla really wants to keep her slim-fit fitness figure. But with such a busy day, how will she have time to keep track of her food and calorie intake?

CONCEPT Futuristic flavour
The refillable containers control the amounts of nutrition in the meal e.g. proteins, carbs, fat. Simply insert a small taste-cartridge, and enjoy a perfectly balanced smoothie/ soup with any flavour you like.
Effortless
The machine is connected to your smartphone fitness APP, so it knows how much you have exercised. And it knows exactly how much nutrition you need to stay fit.

SKY FRIDGE 5 WEEK PROJECT - SPACE SAVING REFRIGERATOR
Industrial Design - May 2014
Page 31
PROBLEM Bigger and Smaller
The population in larger cities are booming. At the same time, the space is getting smaller and more limited. Space efficiency is more crucial than ever.
Not Cool
In a kitchen you need good work space and storage space. In small appartment kitchens, the space is not always optimized. The biggest space user is most often the fridge.
Jacob R. Brinth
Page 32
IDEA Over Our Heads
Most of the space in a typical small kitchen is used up. But often there is a lot of unused space along the ceiling. This space has good potential, if it is accessible.
Flying fridge
No more big bulky boxes to use up potential work- or storagespace. The SKY FRIDGE opens up the room for new possibilities.

Page 33
TECHNICS Heat Up
The refrigerator compresses a gas to a high pressure which causes a rise in temperature. The hot gas is pumped through condensor coils placed on the outside to cool off in the roomtemperature.
Cool Down
On it’s way in again, it goes through an expanding valve where the gas looses pressure, and falls drastically in temperature. It travels through the refrigerators inside coils, cooling it down.
Jacob R. Brinth
Page 34
TECHNICS It Feels Light
The hydraulic lift makes it easy and light for any user to push or pull. Metal reinforcements secure the lifts to the ceiling, so it is stable and sturdy.
It Lightens Up
By placing LEDs under the edge of Sky Fridge, it can light up the room. It doubles as a ceiling lamp.

5 WEEK PROJECT - ONE LAMP WITH TWO FUNCTIONS
Industrial Design - May 2014
Page 39
CASE Newest technology
It’s energy saving, it’s smaller, it has less warmth output, a longer lifetime, and better light qualities. It is LED! Many new qualities lead to many great possibilties.
Business Partner
This project was in cooperation with the danish light company: LIGHT YEARS. Their products are in general; minimal, clever and feminine. MORSE is here to represent a masculine companion.
Jacob R. Brinth
Page 40
CONCEPT Lightshifting
With inspiration from the nautical signal lamp, MORSE can shift lightsettings with it’s shutters.
Industrial Design - May 2014
Page 41
PROCESS Light and Dark
The shutters give a harmonic play between light and shadows for a cosy atmosphere. They are covered with a silver metallic finish which gives you a pleasent diffused light.
Band of Lights
A long strip of LEDs is placed around the inside edge, lighting inwards against the opal glass. The glass has directional crystals that throw the light forwards and out into the room.
Jacob R. Brinth
Page 42
PROTOTYPE Multifunctional
MORSE can serve as a directional reading light, and when you need more atmospheric light, simply turn the shades and spread pleasently diffused light across the room.
Thinner than Ever
The new, smaller, LED technology allows the lamp to take an even thinner shape. It looks almost 2D graphical.
