The following pages display my design for the ATB Financial Design Competition. I was to design an innovative building that included a bank on the main floor and an architecture office as well as bank space on the upper floor. I completed this project using Autodesk AutoCAD as well as SketchUp and I finished as a semi finalist.

NIGHT PERSPECTIVE
I chose the word sophisticated to describe my bank, based on the trumpeter swan. The Trumpeter Swan is the official symbol of Grande Prairie due to its proximity to the migration route and summer nesting grounds. This building emulates sophistication based on the powerful feel and the slanted walls to create dramatic shadows.

APARTMENT The apartment was my first project in Revit. I was taught basic Revit tools and used a mirror technique to mirror apartment blocks.

BUILDING SECTIONS
MASSING I worked with in place massing’s in Revit to create quick structures, site, & renderings. The building originated as a 2D hand drawing that was later developed to be a 3D model.
EXTERIOR PERSPECTIVE
CLINIC The clinic was my first experience with phasing in Revit. I also learned about demolition plans and site renderings. I further developed the model to include in place massing’s such as a reception desk and a medical table.

COMMERCIAL I created a full building model for a commercial office building. I learned how to layout structural elements as well as foundation and pile components. The project included everything from reflected ceiling plans to section details.

SKETCHUP Using the knowledge gained in detailing from all semesters, I prepared standard details of a single story, low-slope roof structure based on the proposed construction of the building. I was given a random set of building components to create these 3D cutaway details.

WHITE PHARMACY For the White Pharmacy, I used existing AutoCAD elevations and plans to create my first realistic 3D model in SketchUp.

I learned the difference between existing drawings, demolition drawings and tender drawings. I also created Floor Plans, Elevations, Building Sections, Wall Sections, and Stair Sections.

1 The NAIT Dormitory is a building I created in my second semester 2 design class. I later prepared a full set of working drawings including everything from wall sections to enlargement plans. The most difficult 3 part was applying code as well as solving all the little problems that 4 come up when doing plan and section details. 2
