Framed: Gun Show Words and artwork by Jacqueline Burkett
Collecting guns is an accepted hobby amongst many Americans, especially southerners. As the result of monthy gun shows and gun shops, cnn.com reports that background checks for firearm sales rose 27.1 percent for the first quarter of 2009 over the same quarter last year. Guns, especially assault rifles are made to kill. That being said, everyone and everything will eventually serve the purpose for which they exist. Owning guns often leads to tragic headlines especially in a strained economy. Incident: March 10, 2009 In Geneva, AL Michael McLendon, briefly a police officer, shoots ten people then himself. Incident: April 3, 2009 In Binghamton, NY, Jiverly Voong, fired from IBM, shoots fourteen people then himself.

This guy is a true motivational speaker in this life and the next. His clever and no none sense take on everything makes one iwonder what the heck is he’s doing in the hip hop industry and then he explains himself. It’s simply “oh, why was I questioning him?”.

DulceCandy87 Jessica Alba Look Alike, but Celebrity in Her Own Right: While none of us want to be judged for fashion mishaps, remember when pink camouflage prints was all the rage in fashion. Well we don't know if this out of fashion statement is lurking in the back of her wardrobe but it somehow pleasantly captures her personality. She’s a makeup and fashion fanatic who could give a lesson in mechanics.

The Teenager, The Mexican, And The Machine
Words and artwork by Jacqueline Burkett

PROBLEM: Whether you see them as your biggest competition or an absolute obstacle, if you are a job seeker you may notice the existence of teenagers, Mexicans and machines in abundance. While teens are working for independence and leisurely spending, adults need that income for debt and bills. Mexicans are offered lower pay for jobs Americans would gladly work for fair wages. While Mexicans in the U.S. dreams of a better life are becoming a reality, many Americans job seekers are living a nightmare. Since the American
Industrial Revolution, technolgy has proved its advantages over skilled workers with an investment of less time and money. In recent history inventions such as selfcheckout has reduced the need for warm blooded employees.
SOLUTION: Propose child labor laws that would encourage education over employment with exception to teenagers of low income families. Demand equal pay for employees of all nationalities and races. Support the nation’s employees by boycotting self-serving machines.
