By focusing on the space for performance at its centre, this cultural centre building presents African forms of expression as the main attraction. The performance space in is not overtly designed or made into an exterior auditorium and is instead is a simple platform defined by an opening in the roof. This roof flows from earth to earth and is designed to collect rainfall and not simply be a form for decoration. The roof uses available technologies to generate resources through rainwater collection.
