Mapping The mapping shows the length of a shadow projected from a tree at five different times of the day. The tail ends have the longest and dullest shadows, the the midday shadow is shorterst and the most intense.

8

Experiential Drawing The experiential drawing is a detailed drawing of the shadow lengths of five different trees. This area has an average population of trees, creating an interesting but not overwhelming interaction between the shadows.

Section A shows the 3 pieces together, with the bathroom on the left, the front entrance in the middle, and the main chapel on the right. Section B shows part of the office and the storage area. Section C shows the office areas that are in two of the pieces.

Roof Plan and Site Context

The orientation of the chapel is through the north and south axis, so that at midday the sun will be directly overhead the main chapel area. The other pieces of the chapel are representative of the suns movement throughout the beginning of the day.
