For my book cover design, I choseto concentrateon musical theatreproductions, becauseI am very passionateand interested in musical theatre. I havechosen three novel-based musical pieces, ‘Cats’, ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ and ‘ThePhantom of theOpera’, that havebeen reproduced into great musical piecesby Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber isa English composer who hasreceived many awards for his work including Tony Awards, Grammy Awards, Academy Awards, and a Golden Globe Award. For thebook cover design, I tried to usesimpleimagesthat could represent the musical pieceseasily and werevisually powerful. Cats: On thefront cover, I haveused cat whiskersnext to thetitle. Also, on theback cover, I haveused thesilhouetteof a cat with theplot written insideit. I used theorange colour becauseorangeoften representsthecolour of cat skin. Jekyll and Hyde: On thefront cover, I havecreated thesilhouetteof Dr. Jekyll wearing a fedora, and over coat. I also used red for thetitlewhich representsblood from the murderscommitted by Dr. Jekyll in thestory. On theback cover, I haveused theimage of a beaker to represent Dr. Jekyll asa scientist and theexperimentsheconducted. Furthermore, thegreen colour representsthedrug that heused in hisexperiments. ThePhantom of theOpera: I havecreated an imageof a mask that connectswith the titleon thefront cover. Also, I haveused an imageof thephantom’smask and have outlined theplot on it.
