“I regard time as a plastic object, in which elements whose original meaning we have forgotten, are preserved, alongside the fragments of a beautiful building. Aldo Rossi

IN SEARCH OF NON-MEANING

UNBUILT

Some time ago I set out to do a very basic and elemental study of space with primary geometrical forms as a motif. It started out with a set of spaces that were very small like a room or cell, and a deep sense of interiority was introduced by embedding a narrow channel of space that links inside and outside. UNCHANGEABLE is a project initiated by looking at the work of the past in an attempt to transcribe them in a visual node. The representation is neither perspectival nor diagrammatical. There is no central focus or vanishing point here. Only an absolute matter of non-hierarchical space exists. It creates a continuous space of objects, in which everything is visible at all times. No single line, point, or element is given any priority over one another. All things are drawn in a single identical stroke; all is important and all is inseparable. The totality of everything eliminates a potential of emerging of details that might challenge the autonomy of this landscape. The canvas becomes a stage for indeterminate eyes to wonder around in search of origin.

AHISTORICAL ARCHITECTURE

What can the remains of ancient ruins that have survived centuries of civilizations, wars, and natural disasters tell us?

IMAGINED

Slow but gradual passing of time has reduced them into bare essentials like bones that were once occupied by living souls, leaving what is only visible and physical. They have outlived the limits of time, and the very little have remained that can suggest the previous function or context. We are left with the pure space that is self referential and timeless. This particular process of subtraction by time has left us a series of ancient objects with the little or no actual use, but it shines new light into the way we envision architecture in its inception. In retrospect, if we consider the longevity of the structure that can withstand years of history, things we often consider essential to architectural creation in a current climate of the practice, such as function, context, program, and even users, become all too relative and short-lived ideas. Instead, what stays constant is more permanent side of architecture; Iconicity, autonomy and monumentality. iconicity—because

of its instant recognition and registration of the space it creates in our imagination.

autonomy—because its can exist through a different phases of history without losing much of its primary tectonic, so it can influence and dictate the evolution of context and history around it. monumentality—because

individual.

it exists in a conceptual and physical scale that is indifferent to sentimental appeals of mass or

ARCHITECTURE DICTATES HABITUS Undetermined relationship of the solid and void space presents an ever-changing possibility of various configurations of interiority; room, portal, core, element, program, motif… Tectonic formation of this can embody hierarchy, symmetry, conflict, enigma, illogic, and absurdity… How can we develop a sense of order or singularity of HOUSE that inhabits the body and connects the mind of its occupants, which is called “FAMILY” You will outline a series of architectural investigative work to approximate and to edge closer to the core of both meaning and space. All work is an attempt to move from speculation to definition. TOTALITY OF HOUSE MOTIF OF HOUSE INHABITANT OF HOUSE
