I believe that different artistic mediums exist to satisfy our senses. For me, photography is about showcasing the extraordinary in front of our eyes; that which we often do not see. Through photography, the viewer is encouraged to see the world as I do and I try to find beauty in those things which are often overlooked. Painting for me is about the emotive and abstract. Rather than portray a realistic representation of what is there, I attempt to evoke an emotion or feeling that I believe the

ARCTIC ICE MELT: Oil on canvas
From the physical boundaries presented by mountains, rivers, and oceans to the weather and climate differences in deserts, forests, and arctic regions, our lives are constantly impacted by our interaction with the world around us. Humans have been fighting these limitations for centuries in an attempt to bend the environment to our will, but at what cost? My work addresses these concerns and the causes and affects of climate change.

I wanted to create beautiful images that are not instantly recognizable for what they are. With the knowledge of what they represent, comes an understanding of the gruesome and freightening nature of where our world is heading.

I used over 2000 compostable plastic straws. These straws will biodegrade in 3 to 6 months in a commercial composting facility while conventional plastic will sit in a landfill for over 700 years.

The structures that we inhabit provide insight into the way we interact or have interacted with the natural world around us. Decaying architecture brings to light the passage of time - as if a sculpture has been left to grow out of a once occupied space. .

The spaces we choose to abandon tell us about ourselves, reminding us of our past, without which we can not successfully design our future.

Without recognizing the beauty of the natural world we are incapable of living sustainably in it. Once we view the land as something to be preserved, we are capable of providing a blueprint for which to exist harmoniously.

Living sustainably requires an understanding of culture, taking into account the history of both the land and the people.

“No stream rises higher than its source. What ever man might build could never express or reflect more than he was. He could record neither more nor less than he had learned of life when buildings were built. Frank Lloyd Wright
