Jaguar events are kicking into high gear with the Jaguar Clubs in Columbus (July 10) & Pittsburgh (July 24th) hosting their Concours events. Our JCO Concours will be held again at Ursuline College in Pepper Pike on August 7, 2010, please mark your calendar and make sure to pre-register by July 25,2010. I have been a bit Jag disengaged as our Jag is “still in the shop” We (I)I am Jag-less in Medina or more accurately going through “Jag Withdrawal”. I have to say it has been an experience but, am confident the results will have been worth the effort and wait (and $$$$$)… just kind of wondering about the old boat owner adage where the two best boat owning days are: “The day you buy the boat and the day you sell it!” This may apply to classic cars as well…. Thanks to Mike Meyer for his planning and hosting of the Spring Poker Run. We departed from Streetsboro and traveled down to The Spread Eagle Tavern in Hanovertown for a great lunch and visit. The Spread Eagle Tavern is rapidly becoming a favorite destination of the club, make sure you check out the pics in this issue and plan on attending next year. Looking forward to seeing members at our Concours reception on Aug 6th and on the field on August 7th. (see info in this issue) Please note that the Tiffin event scheduled for August 28 &29 has been canceled…..I may try to schedule a quick road rally the end of August!!!! Please send your entries to: Mike Meyer 8134 Crystal Creek Sagamore Hills, Ohio 44067 Email: mhm2@roadrunner.com

Just a few rules that reaffirmed from the last AGM. Any Jaguar that has prepared for competition must have been prepared by a recognized race organization. Any entrant in the driven class must be driven to the event if less than 35 years old. Entrant in any class must be the owner or immediate family. Dealers or professional restorers may register their personal car for judging however they must be prepared to show their title and/or registration of ownership. (personal note- I will not require birth certificate.) Point deduction for mismatched color between body panels. Point deduction for clear protective bra's. All factory fitted over mats shall be judged on cleanliness and condition and will be shown outside the entry and assigned deduction if missing. ie. VDP wool mats. NO FOR SALE signs.
It's what we have been waiting to hear, a new "F" type sports car is a go! This two seater will be in direct competition with the Porsche Boxster. "We have momentum and a new sports car is coming" It will have plenty of road presence and be instantly recognizable as a Jaguar. The success of the XF (JLR is finally showing a profit) shows we can compete, but it's only one model and we need more vehicles in the XF family. The XF will be Jaguars core value and will provide most of the profits and be the sales leader. There is a clear indication that an estate version (that's a station wagon to us in the colonies) and a low slung coupe are on the way. A heavily camouflaged estate prototype has been seen around Jaguar headquarters. There is big news regarding Jaguars warranty program. A 5/50 warranty, increasing one year.
Jaguar XE
small sports car to debut at 2011 Geneva Motor Show

Complimentary scheduled maintenance, No cost replacement of wear and tear items such as front and rear brake pads and/or discs. Brake fluid change, and windshield wiper blade inserts. This, to me, shows new confidence in the quality of the product by Jaguar. You probably have seen some of the new Jaguar XJ ads on TV, I wish they would do more advertising of the quality of the Jaguar. That is where we need to reassure the public of our quality and value, that is what Lexus did! Keep the faith, things are looking up.

This is the Jaguar XK 75, a new, hotter, limited edition model built to celebrate the marque's 75th anniversary. As the name implies, only 75 cars will be built, and they're suitably tuned - the 5.0-litre supercharged engine now has 523bhp and 483lb ft of torque. That means 0-60mph takes 4.4sec (down from 4.6sec), while it has a limited top speed of 174mph. The handling and suspension has been returned to cope with the extra power and give the car an even sportier edge, while special kits such as a sports exhaust, side sill extensions and unique alloys add to the drama. It also has a revised aero package, including a front splitter, rear wing and rear diffuser to ensure the car remains stable at high speed. Jaguar says the modifications have not harmed the XK's comfort. The car will be officially unveiled at the the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 2, 2010.
This report comes right on the heels of Jaguar reportedly saying it will produce a version of the F-Type sports car, though it's still unclear if the Geneva-bound XE is a different model altogether. According to Inside Line, the XE will be based on a shortened version of the next-generation XK architecture. If the concept stays true to most of Jaguar's recent designs, it should be quite eye-catching, as well.
by Zach Bowman (RSS feed) on Jun 18th, 2010 at 8:58AM Rendering of the main hall at the LeMay America's Car Museum
If you've ever wondered who has the largest private car collection in the world, wonder no more. Until his death in 2000, Harold E. LeMay had the distinction of laying claim to that title with over 3,000 classic vehicles in his possession. His gems included everything from a 1916 Abadal Buick to a 1983 DeLorean DMC 12 and pretty much everything in between. Just before LeMay passed away, he formed a non-profit group with the goal of building a massive museum to house his collection and educate the public on the impact and evolution of the automobile. LeMay's vision for the garage to end all garages was no less grand than his collection – a massive steel and arched glass structure designed by Alan Grant of Grant Architects. After a decade of fundraising by LeMay's widow and a number of grants from state and local governments, the LeMay America's Car Museum officially broke ground this week. The project is expected to cost a total of $100 million when completed, and will feature complete educational exhibits in addition to showcasing the collection. For more information on the cars and the museum, be sure to check out the LeMay Museum site. [Source: The New York Times]

We met at the McDonald’s in Streetsboro.
The tour was laid out for club members by Mike Meyer. We started in Streetsboro, and followed Mike’s directions, watching the sites, until we all ended up at the Spread Eagle Tavern for a wonderful lunch together. “Never a meeting without eating!” - Thanks Mike!
An unusual co-pilot!
JCO members pick cards from Mike Meyer at every stop along the route. Maureen Roman chooses her card, while Ava Singerman, Bob Palmer, and Jim Maser look on.
Drawing a new card at every stop.. JCO members put their heads together and watched Tom fix his car at the Wildlife Area. Tom and Diane arrived safely at the Tavern. Their secret... always carry duct tape in your tolbox!
Thomas Inwood and his daughter with his award winning 1973 XKE Roadster.
"Oh yes, there was something I wanted to add before we closed this staff and servants May discussion. This year, on Father's Day, we will enjoy the company of many of our friends, bringing their more unusual automobiles over here to the Manor House. I fear that there may be so many, that we will just park them on the front lawn, so you, Mick, Jim, and Steven, get some men over here and make it as presentable as it can be. Heavens, it may be the start of a tradition."
And indeed it was, it later became the Stan Hywet Father's Day Car Show. Long an automobile gathering where you could show off your car without accumulating points, it became known as a "fun" show for all who admired and appreciated cars of any era. The car show was again this year on Father's Day, June 20 - The Akron Beacon Journal said that there were 8,000 spectators and over 400 cars. I haven't been there for a few years, but it hasn't changed much. As a matter of fact, this is where I first met Jackie and Jerry Litz driving their blue XJS top down roadster. Many years ago Jag Club members began meeting at the show and we continued counting it as a great additional place to meet and talk about Jags (and other cars). For 2010, it was the year of the Lincoln!
Herb Neides, of Solon, Ohio, with his grandson and “Best In Show 1953 XK120 Jaguar.
Nice Packard Darrin (Movie Stars used to drive these in the Black & White Days).
Lois and Bob Barbero and their trophy for a winning entry with JAGBLEU.
I told my grandson, Max, that a particular Lincoln Continental convertible was identical to the Lincoln that President Kennedy was assassinated in. There was also a particularly beautiful stainless steel-sided convertible from the 30's parked up near the entrance to the house. While shooting many pictures of an XK140 coupe I commented to an elderly lady who was watching that I thought she would look attractive in the 140, she looked at me and said she'd better, it was her car!! Again, the Stan Hywet show did not disappoint in the least. A perfect summer day! - From Rick Vanek
Paul and Carol Neidert with their award winning Woody.
Jim Krause and Dave McNeill brought their Jaguars and David Levy brought his Tesla to the show.
Some Italian guy we know.

JCO Does It Again
It was a beautiful spring fling. Our spring tour had sunny weather and convertible tops quickly came down. What a great way to start JCO's summer events. Thirty some members enjoyed the ride and the scenic stops along the way where we drew playing cards hoping we would have the winning poker hand at the conclusion of the tour. Once again we ended our tour at the rustic and historical Spread Eagle Tavern in Hanoverton. Congradulations to Ava Singerman and Bob Palmer who had the winning hand. A bonus was seeing Bob Palmer who as many of you members might know is undergoing cancer treatments now. It must have been a real treat for him to get out and he chose to spend it with us. Continuing good luck with your treatments Bob. When we arrived at the tavern there were signs posted in our parking area "car show today". The many patrons enjoyed the line up of Jaguars and of course we love showing them off. A good meal and a lot of friendly chatter made it another good day for JCO. We do have fun don't we? JJ

If you try to check their tightness, you may find out that you will not be able to remove all of them with the wrench that is supplied in the tool kit. You may have to have a garage remove them with an impact wrench, or in a worse case scenario, have one or more break off and then drilled out to remove the wheel. Weekend Schedule We see on an average of 1 out of 2 cars that Friday, August 6 have rusted lug nuts. Particularly the fronts. 1:50 p.m. - American Le Mans Series You must make sure that the wheel studs & Vitesse Program nuts are generously lubricated with an anti seize paste like "Neverseize". 1:55 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. Qualifying – What happens is if a nut is rusted to it's stud, American Le Mans Series GT/GTC the decorative outer cap of the nut will weaken and spin off with the force of the socket. Then 2:25 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. Qualifying – the nut itself will start to round off (with a smaller American Le Mans Series LMP/LPC socket) & eventually either round off so much Saturday, August 7 that you can no longer put a socket on the nut, 7:00 a.m. Gates and Registration Open or it will snap at the collar. At that point you will 8:00 a.m. - Practice – Firestone Indy Lights not be able to remove the wheel until the nut is 9:00 a.m. - Practice – IZOD IndyCar Series cut off with a hole saw then the stud will have 10:15 a.m. Race #1 – World Challenge to be removed for a new one. Championships God forbid you should encounter this on the 11:35 a.m. Qualifying – Firestone Indy Lights 12:35 p.m. Qualifying – IZOD IndyCar road after a flat tire, & you find out you can't remove the wheel. Have these checked soon! 2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Average price to replace the broken nut & American Le Mans Series Pre-Race new stud, $200.00 to $300.00. Ceremony -Vitesse Program A little grease and regular service... 3:00 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. Mid-Ohio Sports Car Challenge – Priceless! American Le Mans Series Race 6:00 p.m. – 6:30p.m. American Le Mans Series Do you have a question Post Race Ceremony
