Who Would Have Thunk It?? Jaguar sales are posting new record sales since the new XJ has been seen, and accepted overwhelmingly by the public and auto experts worldwide. A big holdup in production, believe it or not, is a shortage of engines! They hope that will be addressed shortly. Feel good about that don't we?
2012 is shaping up to be another banner year for Jaguar as there will be a refresh of the XF. There will be a change in the rear tail lamps and most notably a more upright grille as on the XJ. Speaking of grilles, the rectangle is now the new shape on all upcoming models including the XK. Designers don't see the oval grille as fitting in with the new models in the works,.The outlook now is for an XF estate, a coupe, and definitely a sports car in the next two model years. WOW, somebody is working hard and spending about one billion $ in R&D. Also in the next two years there will be a new 8 speed transmission, a better transmission and lightweight body panels and frames will mean more efficiency and therefore better fuel mileage. I feel the coming CAFE standards due in 2016 are unreasonable and will be modified unless you want to try to sell cars that nobody wants to buy, and that's where it's headed.
Jag evaluates C-X75 for production

Jaguar is planning production feasibility studies of up to 2000 cars a year for its new 780bhp C-X75 supercar, according to sources. Jag is remaining coy about firm production plans for the elegant mid-engined C-X75, but Autocar sources say that two levels of production are under consideration. The higher one is up to 2000 cars a year, the lower one up to 1000 cars a year. Each needs to be explored independently because they demand different production methods — the lower number with more hand assembly and lower tooling costs, the higher one with more automation, but higher tooling costs. A production version faithful to the gas turbine-powered C-X75 will also have to wait between five-and-seven years while Jaguar proves and productionises the Bladon Jets micro gas-turbines at the heart of the hybrid-electric powertrain. “ We ’ re talking two-to-three years for implementation of the gas turbine technology, then another three-to-four years to integrate into a vehicle,” says Jag’s head of advanced powertrain Tony Harper. The cost of developing the gas turbines for production could be in the C-X75’s favour, being significantly less than an equivalent IC engine, running into the “tens of millions”. Harper is also confident the gas turbines can be engineered and proven to rigorous car industry reliability and endurance standards: “There ’ s much less to go wrong; there’s about 100 times fewer parts in a gas turbine than an IC engine.” The load duty-cycle of the gas turbine will also be less harsh over its lifetime, being characterised by steady running at 80,000 rpm, rather than the ever-changing rev pattern of an IC engine. Replicating a production supercar faithful to the C-X75 design is largely dependent on these gas turbines, because they take up such little space in the engine bay that Jaguar has been able to position the cabin 300mm further back than typical in a conventionally-powered supercar. The styling of the C-X75 is the work of a senior member of Jaguar's design team, Matt Beaven, whose credits include the R Coupé and RD6 concepts. A former VW designer, Beaven counts the original VW Touran and secondgen Audi A3 among his work. Julian Rendell
Historic Jaguar C-Type to Fetch $3.7 Million in London was the headline, but AUCTION RESULTS: Lot 153 was Not Sold at a high bid of $2,769,550
"Specifically designed to win the Le Mans 24 hour race, the legendary C-T ype Jaguar is one of the most desirable sports racing cars ever built," notes Max Girardo, Managing Director of RM Europe. "Powered by a 210bhp, 3,442 cc six-cylinder engine, Jaguar C-Types have an enviable racing heritage from the glory days of 1950s motorsport. The example on offer, XKC-015 is a wonderful illustration and an exciting addition to our London sale." The C-Type did not sell, and it is not known when it will be re-of fered.
RM Auctions returned to Battersea Evolution in the heart of London, England on October 27th for the annual Automobiles of London sale. The event’s top seller was the famous 1964 Aston Martin DB5 James Bond movie car; becoming not only the most expensive Aston but also the most valuable film car ever sold at auction at $4,608,531 (£2,912,000). US Collector Harry Yeaggy bought the car at the sale in person. Yeaggy said the car ’s new home would be in a US museum - but beforehand he planned to “have a bit of fun” taking the car for a spin around the streets of the British capital.
The impressive results of RM’s 2010 Automobiles of London event were generated by bidders from 30 different countries on the telephone, online, and assembled in the standing-room-only venue.

- Special Effects Car 1 (SFX1) - Featured in ‘Die Another Day’, starring Pierce Brosnan as 007 - One of only four built with four-wheel drive and driven in ice chase scene Die Another Day, released by MGM Studios and Eon Productions in November 2002, was the 20th film in the James Bond series, the most successful film series of all time. Pierce Brosnan reprised his role as James Bond, Agent 007, for the last time before the franchise returned to the beginning of the 007 timeline with Daniel Craig’ s role in Casino Royale. In typical Bond fashion, Brosnan was shown driving an Aston Martin Vanquish. The villain Zao, played by Rick Yune, drove a highly modified Jaguar XKR equipped with a Gatling gun mounted centrally behind the seats, mis siles firing from the front grilles, rocket launchers in the doors and mortars in the boot. No less than eight XKRs were used for filming, all of which were formerly Jaguar Cars engineering development fleet vehicles that were converted by Jaguar’s own Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) in conjunction with Pinewood Studios’ in- house special effects team. Half of the XKRs were standard two-wheel drive XKRs with cosmetic modifications. In order to prepare for the dramatic car chase on ice, however, the other four XKRs were built on a completely bespoke four-wheel drive chassis. All eight cars were painted the same green as Jaguar ’s Formula 3 racing team with Dorchester grey body kits, an R-performance option interior with Recaro bucket seats, 20-inch silver Detroit-style road wheels and Brembo brakes. The car is original and unmodified since the end of filming, as built by Jaguar SVO & Pinewood Film Studios. Being sold directly from Jaguar Heritage, this is the very first time that this blue-chip piece of Bond memorabilia with unquestionable provenance has been of fered for sale. It is a unique piece of movie history and one of the most stunningly designed and dynamic villain’ s cars in the history of the Bond franchise.

Wow! What a great event on Sunday October 24th at 11AM. The first JCNA slalom event at the Franklin County Fairgrounds. A timed speed event where you run your car on a figure 8 type course. The Max speed was about 25 mph so it was safe, but what fun it was! This was really practice for our Challenge Championship next year. This was a great opportunity to bring your Jag and test its agility. Take a look at JCNA.com to learn more about the slalom.
The directions were: What you will need to bring or do: (rain or shine) 1. Bring lunch, or snack and drink. (strictly, no alcohol if you plan on driving) 2. Vehicle trunk and interior must me cleared of any loose items. 3. You must wear a helmet, please bring yours to wear, or we will have some loaners on hand. If you have extra helmets bring them to share. 4. Tires and car will be inspected for safety. It is advised to raise your tire pressures to handle the extra cornering Gs. There will be a compressor on site. 5. Your car must be fitted with a seat belt in order to run. Written by: George Keller

Pittsburgh, PA - It all started when a movie director walking around looking for cars for his movie, saw Dave Putnam's car at the Pittsburgh Concours. In September he got the call to be the lead car in the movie. An Independent Film Company, Laura Davis Productions, out of LA, have done HBO work in the past.The movie is A New York Heartbeat, Directed by Tjardus Greidanus. The Costume department called him and said they need his measurements, to get you a costume. He sent pictures of some of his own suits, and they said bring your own suit.They outfitted him with a creme shirt, and wingtip shoes for the 50's look. Dave bought a Fedora hat, to finish off his Gangster costume. They wanted me to come on a 4 hour drive and then work all night. I'm retired.....I said I'll come the day before. He trailered his car and they arranged for him to stay at the Shady Side Inn. He watched some shoots in a warehouse, and then they told him to be downtown on Sixth street around midnight. Eric Roberts is the lead gangster. Dave was the driver for Eric Roberts.They set up lights, took down street signs, and had the street lined with 50's Ford's and Chevy's. The main costume lady looked him over and made him change his tie, and decided on no eye glasses. They finally started the shoot around 2 AM. The first shot was drive up to the front of the church, open the door for Eric, and then they all walked across the street.They did some practice and a dry run, and then it took three times to get the shot the way the director wanted it. There were five guys in the car besides himself. And the first time they got in, Eric Roberts was smoking a cigar in the back seat. He said the other guys had cigars too, but they weren't lit. Eric Roberts is a nice guy, and he made me feel comfortable. The second time they drove up, he got out, opened up the trunk and handed out shot guns to everyone and ran across the street. Then they went to a First street warehouse for a bit more shooting, and they wrapped up about 7 AM. Then he packed up and came home. Dave Putnam, interviewed by phone. Irene Chudzik

2010 SCCA (Sport Cars Club of America) Pro Racing Trans-Am Series 43rd Season – Braselton, Georgia Oct.1, 2010
Tomy Drisi, of Hollywood, Calif., started the race and went from seventh place to fourth on the first lap.The #5 Unstoppable Jaguar XKR was doing well. When it went into the second lap it developed what seemed to be a mechanical problem. So,Tomy headed into the pits for the team to investigate. The RSR crew jumped right in to look things over, and it was decided not to take the chance going back out in the race and risk the car. It turned out that there was an electrical issue which put an early end to their promising race result. Drissi stated, “Unfortunately it is the end of the season.Thanks to the RSR crew for all their hard work this year. It was a really tough year, but I have been part of Gentilozzi's squad for five year now.They have brought me some really good times, and we have gone through really long time together. We put our heads up high for the work we did this year, last year we won the championship, but it just wasn't our fate this season. None of this would have been possible without the support of my partners, especially 20th Century Fox, I can't thank them enough.” It may have been a tough season, but Drissi still managed a top-three rank in the 2010 Driver's Championship, finishing third overall. After ten rounds, Drissi earned one win in the 2010 season opener at New Jersey Motorsports Park, four front row starts including one pole at Toronto, four podium finishers, five top-fives and nine top-ten finishes. Drissi wound up with 984 total points. East Lansing, Michigan (October 25, 2010) JAGUAR RSR announces its plan to travel to the other side of the world for one last race in 2010. The team will field a JaguarRSR SKR GT2 in the final round of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, the 1000 km of Zhuhai in China, November 7th. This event at Zhuhai International Circuit will be the first race in China, but it is also the first major endurance racing event in China. JaguarRSR looks to test its' performance against some of the top international sports car teams from manufacturers such as Porsche, BMW, Ferrari and Lamborghini competing in the LM GT2 category.

The duo of Trans-Am legend Gentilozzi (American) and the vastly experienced international sports car racer Marc Goossens (Belgian) will take the challenge behind the wheel in this 1000 km/six-hour endurance event. This race will mark their eighth start as teammates.
Activities for this race weekend start on Thursday, November 4th with two practice sessions. Additional practice time will be available on Friday and Saturday morning ahead of qualifying for the GT category on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CST, local time. The 1000 km of Zhuhai will take the green flag a 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, November7th. There is a 12-hour time difference from the US Easter Time Zone.
