The stairs turn you around. Don’t get disorientated. You must get a pass in order to go to your car during school hours.

n the course of the next few weeks, Vice Principal Steve Leifson is leaving his position on the ER staff and transitioning to the head principal position at Edgerton Elementary. The call from the staff at Edgerton came through on Aug. 30, the morning of the school orientation. “The principalship opened up at Edgerton and I was offered the job,” Leifson said. Filling in for Leifson’s position is Walker High School staff member Mark Harris. Principal Brian Lowney expressed that he is excited for what Harris will bring to ER, and pleased with the skills he will bring in dealing with struggling students. The rest of the faculty are both sad and proud to see Leifson off to his new job as principal, including staff guidance counselor Mariano Leon-Guerrero. “I am grateful for the time we shared and what he brought to our school,” LG said. “I really appreciated his passion more than anything, for our students and our school in the short time he was here.”
“I show my school spirit through REP, which stands for Respect, Empowerment, and Pride.”

Thoughts in the hallways The students that make our class unique say a few words
Students are also feeling the mixture of pride and sorrow to see Leifson leave. Dylan Watkins, has had Leifson as vice principal since seventh grade, and has always seen him as a good addition to any school. “You get to know someone really good and then they’re gone,” Watkins said. “It’s like a picture on the wall, it becomes part of what you are and when it’s gone you miss it. I saw how he could get things done and help students get things done. [Edgerton] is really lucky to have him.” Despite leaving his job at ER, Leifson is going to continue being a part of the school’s family. “Since I’m still so close, I’ll show up as much as I can because I believe so strongly in the mission at ER,” Leifson said. Mr. Leifson is saddened to leave, but he is excited for his new position at Edgerton. “I’m looking forward to meeting the wonderful staff, and the wonderful parent community,” { Doug Mayovsky - JagWire } Leifson said. “ I’m also going to take a little Jag pride with me.” Steve Leifson greets students with a smile on
