Our cooperation with leading breeders enables us continuously to improve and innovate. Hochberg Export Ornamental Plants are able to offer their customers bespoke solutions for their production needs according to the very highest professional standards in the market. That is our challenge. You are most welcome to visit our nursery in Moshav Bizaron, Israel where more than 60 hectares with over 200 varieties in open and private stock are located. Environmentally Friendly Like an increasing number of businesses in the market, Hochberg Export Ornamental Plants is seeking out environmentally friendly solutions. For the greater part of the crops, Hochberg is using high quality recycled water and has also installed a recycling system for the root washing facility. Further, Hochberg have invested in a solar system as an environmentally energy source not only for Hochberg’s needs but also feeding back energy to the National Electricity Company. Hochberg Export Ornamental Plants is adopting the strategy of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), which is an effective and environmentally sensitive approach to pest management that relies on a combination of common-sense practices. IPM programs use current, comprehensive information on the life cycles of pests and their interaction with the environment. This information, in combination with available pest control methods, is used to manage pest damage by the most economical means, and with the least possible hazard to people, property, and the environment. Further Hochberg is accountable to the Israeli Plant Protection and Inspection Services (PPIS), who operate in accordance with the international quality management standard ISO 9001:2000. 4

Delivery

Each one of the plants gets the best treatment before shipping. After harvesting the plants from the field they are washed in our new washing machine with special attention given to the root system. All plants and roots are treated to prevent root problems. This is followed by grading to specification and packing.

The plants are packed into reefer containers at 2 degrees Celsius and it is usual for them to take approximately 10-14 days to get to our customers. The arrival of containers is mainly between week 4 and week 11 With all our plants we comply fully to the North American and European import laws. Please note that in USA the following plants have to go through a quarantine period: Acer, Hibiscus, Ficus and Punica.

The smaller plants are packed in boxes and kept in cold storage of 2 degrees Celsius until shipping. The bigger plants are stored after grading in sand outdoors and just before shipment they are washed again and covered with plastic bags. 34
