BRANDING The design intent was to implement a strong masculine mood, while exhibiting a consistent representation of style, sophistication, and luxury. Lighting and various materials were selected to create a dynamic environment by enhancing and contrasting the existing historic architecture. Furniture choices were chosen to support the metropolitan and masculine merchandise while complementing the brand. logo alternatives:

ART GALLERY In order to communicate a concept for an art gallery, several techniques of development and presentation were used to better tell a strong, cohesive story. Through sketching ideas, I was able to carve a direction that proved promising. With a refined sketch I could begin laying out an actual plan in AutoCAD. With strong definition of an idea, a more expressive form of visual communication was desired, inspiring the production of a marker rendering.

Above are examples of four boards laid out to present furniture & material selections, as well as furniture layout for a two bedroom house. The boards were designed to best reflect the preferred aesthetic of the client and the concept behind the furniture and material selections. Emphasis was put on readability and visual clarity.

LIGHTING ANALYSIS & RCP In addition to furniture selection and layout, I designed a complete lighting scheme to achieve a holistic lighting approach. Amount of daylight provided, energy use of fixtures, and artificial lighting levels where aspects considered in the lighting plan. To the left is the lighting plan, executed in Revit, for the first level. Below are sections that illustrate and analyze the affect of different layers of light (i.e. ambient, task, and accent). The lighting plan was designed to improve the indoor environmental quality while reducing the design's ecological impact.

ARCHITECTURAL ARTIFACTS During my sophomore year at Auburn University, my class participated in a philanthropic design project. In order to rase money for a foundation that supports research for children with diabetes, we incorporated architectural artifacts in new furniture designs to be auctioned for sale. The following are three examples of what I designed from three different artifacts. For the first piece, I used a concrete relief that was originally part of a buildings faรงade dated around the 1940s. The organic design and scale of the piece inspired a water garden. On the following page are pieces designed with another piece of concrete faรงade and iron railing. Each piece was designed to complement and showcase the items original aesthetic.

SPA LOBBY The lighting design of the spa lobby concept incorporates a mixture of architectural lighting applications. Detail sections are shown below of the lobby’s cove lighting & suspended soffit uplighting. Linear LED luminaries of lengths ranging from 6” to 6’ are used through out the space. The idea is that this architectural lighting application will create visual interest with out any exposed lamps & providing 10 footcandles a square-foot average for required luminance levels.

The project was to design a spa lobby that was consistent with the aesthetic of an existing hotel. I chose the W Hotel & Spa in Vieques, designed by the Rockwell Group. The textures, colors, and materials chosen where inspired by the movement to rejuvenate the island of Vieques's natural agriculture as a metaphor for the rejuvenation of ones body.
