FIRST ISSUE Introduction Welcome to the first issue of Next Vape E-‐Cig News & Catalog, this magazine initially was going to be a catalog of our current product line up, but after much deliberation we decided that our customers and readers would be interested in reading about current e-‐cig news and product reviews, we hope that this magazine will grow in time and we look forward to producing many more future issues. VAPING, 95% SAFER THAN CIGARETTE SMOKING
World-‐renowned cardiologist’s research shows evidence that e-‐ cigarettes are at least 95% safer than cigarette smoking A study by Dr. Konstantinos Farsalinos released on Thursday May 21st 2015 debunks the hidden Formaldehyde claims and shows evidence that e-‐ cigarettes are at least 95% safer than traditional cigarette smoking. Dr Farsalinos has been conducting scientific studies on e-‐cigarettes since 2007 and his latest study found that vapers are not exposed to dangerous levels of aldehydes as claimed in the January 2015 ‘Flawed’ “New England Journal of Medicine research paper titled “Hidden Formaldehyde in E-‐Cigarette Aerosols”. “Smokers should be encouraged to switch to vaping.” Dr. Farsalinos study goes on to show that minimal levels of aldehydes were detected and that those levels were 30-‐250 times lower than tobacco cigarette smoke.

Dr Farsalinos study was peer reviewed and published in Addiction which is a monthly international scientific journal publishing peer-‐reviewed research papers on alcohol, illicit drugs, tobacco, and gambling as well as editorials and other debate pieces, Owned by the Society for the Study of Addiction, it has been in continuous publication since 1884.

COOL FIRE IV
BEYANG CVS REVIEW In this issue we take a look at the Beyang CVS sub tank, a 7ml tank made of 304 stainless steel and pyrex glass, they say that this tank is unique as you can refill juice from the top without having to remove it from your connected mod. Unboxing Firstly I must say that the packaging is very nice, the box itself is an acrylic box and the tank and three coils are surrounded by cream foam and are completely visible, the only text is written on the sides and the back of the box. We removed the tank from the box and then found a small plastic self-‐seal bag with around 10 replacement rubber seals, a nice find. Assembly The kit comes with 3 coils, BTC 1.0Ω, BTC 0.5Ω and a BTDC 0.2Ω, BTC means Bottom Turbine coil and BTDC means, Bottom Turbine Dual Coil, we choose the 1.0Ω coil and screw it to the base easily, then strangely we attach the tank directly to our MOD, we are using an iStick 30W for this review. We then push down at the top and twist a little to open the e-‐juice fill holes and pour in our e-‐juice, for this test we are using Oplus Mango e-‐ liquid with a nicotine strength of 12mg. The liquid goes straight down through the holes and the tank fills up, no mess and very, very easy, now for the real test. Test Equipment 1 x Beyang CVS with 1.0Ω coil installed 1 x iStick 30W 1 x Bottle of Oplus Mango E-‐juice

BEYANG CVS REVIEW Testing With the e-‐juice in and the fill holes now closed, we set the device to 10W, which is the recommended minimum for the 1.0Ω coils. At 10W there is very little vapour but you do get a throat hit but without the vapour I sucked a bit too hard which makes me cough, lets move up to 15W. At 15W more vapour is being produced and I get a medium hit of Mango e-‐ liquid, the tank is a little warm after 10 puffs. Moving up to 20W I start to get a lot more vapour and a great hit of mango e-‐ liquid, but a little harsh on the throat. Surprisingly at 25W the hit is very smooth and flavourful, with no harsh throat hit and lots of vapour, interesting. We crank up to 30W and I expected less flavour and maybe a burning taste, but no, tons of vapour, a little less flavour than at 25W but still very pleasant, the room starts to fill up with the massive amounts of vapour produced, wow. Conclusion This is a very good sub tank, it is built very well, easily to assemble and top filling of e-‐liquid while connected to a battery is fantasic, also even set at 30 the tank stays relatively cool. Personally though I feel the sweet spot for the 1.0Ω coils are between 20-‐25W but for sure works well up to 30W. CLAIM – Hidden Formaldehyde in E-Cigarette Aerosols A research letter published in the New England Journal of Medicine in January 2015 titled “Hidden formaldehyde in e-‐cigarette aerosols” examined the aerosol produced by an electronic cigarette. The aerosol was collected and analysed for formaldehyde. What is Formaldehyde? A colourless, flammable, strong smelling chemical that exists in various forms and used in a number of industries for various purposes such as; for the manufacturing of building materials, it can also be found in tobacco cigarette smoke. Formaldehyde has been classified as a carcinogen as it has been shown to cause cancer in animals. Two voltage settings were used in the study, low 3.3V and high 5.0V, the study found that at a low voltage, no formaldehyde was detected, but set to a high voltage, high levels of formaldehyde were detected, over 10 times the amount found in cigarette smoking. Using these results they claimed the lifetime cancer risk from vaping is higher than that from cigarette smoking. Now on first inspection, the results sound very bad indeed for vaping. However there are additional factors that need to be considered when looking at this study. Factors to consider • The study used a laboratory machine and applied 3.3V and 5.0V to an unnamed atomiser for 4 seconds per puff. • The authors did not find formaldehyde when set to 5.0V but formaldehyde hemiacetals. There is no evidence that hemiacetals are toxic or carcinogenic. • The study doesn’t tell us which atomiser, clearomiser and battery that they used to test. • At 3.3V no formaldehyde was found.

COIL & FORMALDEHYDE We have no real way of telling how much thermal load was put on the e-‐ cigarette atomiser, since energy should be displayed by watts not volts, based on measurements it is likely that at 5V the atomiser used had a resistance of around 1.6-‐1.8Ω and energy of around 14-‐16 watts, which would be extremely high for commercially available atomisers. it is more than obvious that the atomiser has been overheated which would have produced high levels of formaldehyde. In fact overheating results in an unpleasant taste that none can withstand. As a result, no vaper is ever going to sit around and use an e-‐cigarette at such conditions and will never be exposed to such levels. To summarise, this study seemed to indicate that there are extremely high levels of formaldehyde in e-‐cigarette vapour, on closer inspection we see quite the opposite. If you are not vaping an overheated atomiser and burnt coil, you are not inhaling any searchable levels of formaldehyde, and even if you were it is debatable that the vapour contains formaldehyde and not formaldehyde hemiacetals. Smokers that are trying to quit will avoid e-‐cigarettes altogether by reading flawed studies such as this one, e-‐cigarettes are much safer than traditional tobacco cigarettes and we urge smokers to read and question everything to educate yourselves and to find the truth.

To be honest, right now it is quite difficult to comment as we are still not 100% sure that the regulations will exist in the current form, we just hope that the regulation makers consult with the vaping industry, technology vendors, doctors and the community to collect all necessary information before making final decisions. Have you ever caught a member of staff vaping with a competitors device and are they still working at Innokin? We actually encourage staff to use competitors products and to give us feedback. Researchers publishing in the BMJ open, surveyed a group of students aged 11-‐to-‐16 in Wales to examine habits around use of cigarettes and e-‐ cigarettes. The study reports that only 1.5 percent reported using e-‐cigarettes at least once a month, and almost all of those monthly vapers were also smokers. They conclude “e-‐ cigarettes are unlikely to make a major direct contribution to adolescent nicotine addiction”.
