WELCOME The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London is a vocational further education (FE) college bringing our learners the very best in education and training. We are a Beacon college, one of only five general FE colleges in London to get this award and we are in the top 10% of colleges nationally. We have a huge range of courses on offer and we are deeply committed to really looking after our learners. In 2008, Ofsted (the people who inspect schools and colleges) praised our support for learners as ‘outstanding’. They also gave the same high praise to our leadership and management. GIVE YOUR BUSINESS THE ADVANTAGE, GET YOUR EMPLOYEES TRAINED Our Employer Training Solutions (ETS) team consists of qualified and experienced training staff from a wide range of industries. We have partnered with over 500 organisations, from household names such as BT, Metroline and the Royal Mail, right through to new businesses. We also work with a wide range of boroughs across London so you can be sure that we have significant experience in identifying training needs. An award-winning team We hold the Training Quality Standard for all our training, with an ‘excellent’ grading in Health and Care. It is a tough award to win, and identifies us as a trusted partner for the delivery of training to employers. We are also a Centre of Vocational Excellence for specialised vocational training in Early Years. We have been awarded a second unionlearn Quality Award, in recognition of our commitment to working with trade unions for the College’s ICT and Skills for Life programmes. The first unionlearn Quality Award was for a partnership project with the Metroline bus company and our Learning on the Move project. Train to Gain funding to support your business This government-backed initiative helps employees gain valuable skills, while employers improve the efficiency and productivity of their businesses. The initiative helps train employees to achieve a full NVQ Level 2/3, and it may be completely free or with significant discounts providing your employees meet some basic eligibility criteria. How it works Our ETS team works with you to provide flexible, customised training solutions to suit your particular business needs. We can deliver training throughout London and the Home Counties, either at your company’s premises or here at the College. A member of our ETS team meets you to talk through your organisation’s needs. We will then develop a training plan for your organisation. For example: Taster sessions – short courses that introduce learners to a subject Customised courses – tailored specifically for your company’s requirements Certificated courses – accredited training, where learners who successfully complete the course will be awarded a recognised qualification, such as an NVQ, from organisations like City & Guilds. visit www.conel.ac.uk for detailed course information

A wide range of options Our portfolio of courses is demand-led, which means we can fully customise courses to suit your business. To find out more If you are an employer and would like to discuss how we can help meet the training needs of your workforce then please call our advice line, Monday – Friday, 8am – 6pm on 0800 678 3000 or email employerinfo@staff.conel.ac.uk In an economic downturn, there is always a temptation for businesses – large and small – to cut spending on staff training. When times are tough, it looks a simple way to cut costs. 14
But it’s a false economy. Research confirms that firms that don’t train are 21/2 times more likely to fail than those who do! Now is precisely the time to keep investing in the skills and talents of our people. It is the people we employ who will get us through. When markets are shrinking and order books falling, it is their commitment, productivity and ability to add value that will keep us competitive. Investing now in building new skills will put us in the strongest position as the economy recovers.
