Tell us a little about yourself. Foxy Squire performs “dark burlesque” whenever possible. After completing the burlesque class series by Deflouered Productions, she has done performs in London and multiple venues in NYC. Her motto is EMBRACE YOUR SPECTACLE. Fun Fact: I am an interdenominational Christian and fetishist. I love a good Bloody Mary & a whiskey soda with a splash of sour. What kind of art or performing do you do? I would describe my burlesque performance style as “dark burlesque”. Dark Burlesque is similar to dark comedy…you are going to laugh and have fun but it may not all seem appropriate. How did it all started? After completing burlesque class with DeFlouered Productions, I began performing at a few small venues in New York. When the opportunity arose to perform at The Royal Vauxhall in London, I was overjoyed to take part in the Bar Wotever event.
Where did your inspiration come from? I am inspired by all the strange, weird and/or awkward moments in life. I love for my audience to walk away from my performance with a feeling/thought and the topless lady was just a bonus.

Do you remember the moment you fell in love with it? If so can you describe it? At DeFlouered Productions, we had the option to perform our final pieces for a live audience. As I looked out into this sea of faces and saw the amazement and shock as each article of clothing was remove, I fell in love. I knew that nothing could substitute this feeling. What drew you to this particular field/talent? I was always interested in burlesque and loved to watch performance. I found myself critique or noting how I would perform it differently. So when the opportunity to learn from a gifted and very talented professional dancer. I said yes. Tell us about your current projects or activities. My biggest activity is performing. I am still looking for troupe and events to perform at. There are so many wonderful and talent burlesque performers I am honor to be a part of every performance no matter the size of the crowd. What sets you apart from other artists in your field? I don’t use sparkles or glitter like many burlesque dancer. Personally, those two additions just do not fit my style. And in every performance, I try to relay a story and not just remove my clothes on stage. What is one of your most memorable moments/experiences in your field? To date, it would be performing at Shaken & Stirred. The show is well established and I was nervously excited to audition for them. They were my first experience with an established burlesque themed event. I will always remember being announced and feeling my heart jump into my throat as I stepped onstage. What advice would you give yourself if you could go back in time to when you first started? Not to wait to follow your dream. For a long time, I thought that neo burlesque had just one way of doing things. Since I wanted to do something a bit different, I thought it would not be accepted by other performers or audiences. I am happy to say that I was so very wrong.
