Exclusive Interview with Painter Yona Tukuser! Tell us a little about yourself. 5 years ago Yona Tukuser (it’s me) left her small deserted the village in Ukraine . Bold and determined she fearlessly faced the world with all its surprises new streets held for her. She moved to Sophia, capital of Bulgaria. I arrived to Sophia to study art at Academy of Arts. It did not take too long for me to become a famous painter with a quite intriguing personality. I was a walking trouble for my teachers at the academy, if i can say so….:)))) What kind of art or performing do you do? I paint in oils only. How long have you been doing this? I started Design Competition painting at the very early age of my life. I still keep a little notebook with all my first time art-looking-like scribbles… Where did your inspiration come from? My memories from the small village where I used to live definetly give me a lot of inspiration for my art. I would wake up early in the morning and wash my face with the drops of water dripping from the petals of roses. I would then go and clean animals stuff in the barn and I would milk the cows. At the same time I would take a moment to enjoy the sunrise of the day. If you ask me whether I was happy? Hell yeah I was, very happy. Do you remember the moment you fell in love with it? If so can you describe it? A lot of memories I carry inside of me are coming from my childhood…a subtle shadow of a candlelight, an experienced hand of an artist drawing on a palette….its a short fragment taken from the movie which made a very strong impression on me, it touched my soul and thats when my passion to art was born.
What drew you to this particular field/talent? Freedom is what attracted me! Tell us about your current projects or activities. “Foundation for image synthesis” presents curatorial project “ROOT” by Ionko Ivan Stoyanov and pictorial art works by Yona Tukuser Coren, actually my paintings. Curatorial concept by Ionko Ivan Stoyanov involves the challenge to use new forms while presenting the classical expressionism of Yona Tukuser Coren, (they say about me ) revealing her difficult childhood in the past, conjoined with a new extravagant environment. The exhibition ROOT therefore introduce elements of modernity, such as video, cars, business relationships, money, fashion, conceptual ways of thinking and media. This project is experimental, meaning that it connects business as the constituent of art. I have been looking for sponsors for my project and I don’t have too much time. There is an agreement between me and curator Ionko Ivan. I have to pay him off some percentage for the work i am presenting and if I can not make $1,000,000, I will go to jail. Which of your projects are you most proud of and why? “Hunger” project is historically important work. The reason it is important for me is because in this work I draw my attention to the real hunger that people from my native country Ukraine experienced in 20th century. The picture conveys memorable description of the tragedy people from my country went through. What sets you apart from other artists in your field? These are personal memories, my bitter confession I sell for $1,000,000. What is one of your most memorable moments/experiences in your field?
Art itself must be real. Its impossible to make it fake and is inevitable to miss the life in it you need to absolutely give yourself to it What advice would you give yourself if you could go back in time to when you first started? If i could go back in time I probably would not have become a painter(joking). I always listen to my heart and try to follow it and I would not want to make any changes in my past. Today I am in NY to carry my message to people, to remind them about the real truth and that we are all just people on this planet. No matter how advanced the world becomes with all new techniques, innovations and ideas – we always come back to the earth, our planet ,our life. We still will be present even when we die. My message is about the eternity, constant ” always” permanent us visitors lost in between skyscrapers. How can people contact you or follow your progress? You can find all my info on my website www.tukuser.com
