Take Our Photo Challenge: Learn How to Take a Good Picture Taking pictures has never been easier. Most people now have smartphones or a digital camera of some kind that allows them to take pictures on the go. And since smartphones make it so easy to publish pictures to social media sites, it’s a good idea to learn to take a good picture since you probably won’t be editing it before posting. You may not want to enter a photo contest, but why not give yourself a photo challenge and learn how to take a good picture? Here are a few tips to keep in mind.

1. Center the picture. Nothing looks sillier than getting a picture of half of someone’s head. Line up your camera so the object or person you want to take a picture of is right in the center. If your friend is in the corner of the picture but the duct taped car in the parking lot is dead center, where do you think your friends will be looking when they see your handiwork? 2. Get focused. Blurry pictures are hard on the eyes, and you’ll certainly never win a photo contest with a badly blurred shot. Have your photo subject stand still if possible, and use your camera settings to focus the picture, if it doesn’t automatically do it for you. If you can’t get pictures of a still subject (such as taking pictures at a sports game) then see if your camera has a sports setting, which takes a lot of pictures very fast so they don’t come out so blurry. 3. Light it up. If the picture is too dark to see then no one will enjoy the photo. Give yourself a photo challenge and experiment with the flash button when natural lighting isn’t available. 4. Make it interesting. No one wants to see fifty pictures of you posing in front of your bathroom mirror, or a dozen pictures of your dog snoring on your bed. Mix it up! Take pictures of something new. Now that you have some hints on how to ace this photo challenge, tell us what makes a good picture for you in the comments section! Who knows- with these tips maybe you’ll win a photo contest after all.
