DISC at the top. For the last three years every incoming District International Service Chair (DISC) has been told at the RIBI Assembly how influential they can be if they grasp their role and develop new horizons. D1060’s DISC Matt Porter has taken that message to the top and appears to have displaced the RI President from his desk at the Rotary International headquarters in Evanston!!!

GLOBAL GRANT 1414790 CHANGING THE LIVES OF PEOPLE WITH ALBINISM IN TANZANIA. Former RIBI International Service Committee member, Dr. John Philips johnphilip@btconnect.com - writes...’’I am pleased to say that that we are expecting the above Global Grant fund to be paid imminently into an account in Moshi (email below from TRF). The total amount is $108,000.00. This is the largest fund and project I have ever had the privilege to manage! This is also the second GG project I’ve had the opportunity to lead – the first being our previous project in Ukerewe. A team of nine people will go out to Tanzania to launch the project later this month. This is a multinational project and has been supported by a number of clubs and districts. This will make a difference to the lives of some of the Albinos in Tanzania and the credit will be to Mirfield RC!’’ There is a report about this project (including a link to a BBC report) on 9 http://www.rotary-site.org/page.php?PgID=2837&SiteID=389

Disasters The RIBI web site is regularly updated – as Rotarians we naturally look to the long term sustainable help we can provide but naturally think of the ‘NOW’ – please support the Rotary sponsored ‘reactive’ charities in their on-going work to provide shelter and other essential survival items. Projects can be posted on the RI’s crowdsourcing tool site. ‘Rotary Ideas’ and questions about contributing to Ebola relief at an RI level should be sent to relief@rotary.org DFID Emergency Ebola Response Fund, Sierra Leone, £0–1m+ Closing date: 31 March 2015 DFID have established a £5m Ebola Emergency Ebola Response Fund (DEERF) which will provide support over the next 4 months. The Fund is designed for low value interventions which donors would otherwise find difficult to support.
