Due to the great success of the first Grow Your Own Crocus Project last year, it’s being repeated this year. dŚĞ ŝŶŝƟĂƟǀ Ğ ŚĂƐ ďĞĞŶ ĚĞǀ ĞůŽƉĞĚ ďLJ ƚŚĞ ZŽƚĂƌLJ ƌŽĐƵƐ ĂŵƉĂŝŐŶ ĂŶĚ Z/ / zŽƵƚŚ ^Ğƌǀ ŝĐĞƐ ŽŵŵŝƩ ĞĞ ĂŶĚ ŝƐ ĚĞƐŝŐŶĞĚ ƚŽ ĞĚƵĐĂƚĞ ĐŚŝůĚƌĞŶ ĂŐĞĚ ϰ-11 LJĞĂƌƐ ĂďŽƵƚ ƚŚĞ ĚĞǀ ĂƐƚĂƟŶŐ ĚŝƐĞĂƐĞ ŽĨ ƉŽůŝŽ ĂŶĚ ŚŽǁ ZŽƚĂƌLJ ŝƐ ǁ ŽƌŬŝŶŐ ƚŽ ĞƌĂĚŝĐĂƚĞ ŝƚ from the world. The purple crocus is the symbol adopted by Rotary worldwide to promote the End Polio Now Campaign. Last year over 250 Schools and Youth Groups all over the country were given Grow Your Own Crocus kits sponsored by their local Rotary Club. 7,500 children planted their own pots of Crocuses, designed their own pot labels and learned about the End Polio Now Campaign and Rotary's pivotal role in it. By February this year the Crocuses were in full bloom and many children went on to raise funds for End Polio E Žǁ ĂƐ ǁ Ğůů ĂƐ ĞŶƚĞƌŝŶŐ Ă E ĂƟŽŶĂů ƌƚǁ ŽƌŬ ŽŵƉĞƟƟŽŶ ŽŶ ƚŚĞ ƚŚĞŵĞ ŽĨ ͚ZŝĚĚŝŶŐ ƚŚĞ t ŽƌůĚ ŽĨ WŽůŝŽ͛ ͘ Thanks to everyone who took part and helped to make this such a great event. To take part this year all you need to do is contact locals schools and youth groups such as cubs and brownies. During October, Grow Your Own kits will be sent to schools and youth groups. Each kit is designed for 30 children and contains approx. 270 crocus bulbs (around 9 per ƉŽƚͿ͕ ϯϬ ƉŽƚƐ͕ ĐŽŵƉƌĞƐƐĞĚ ĐŽŵƉŽƐƚ͕ ƉůĂŶƟŶŐ ŝŶƐƚƌƵĐƟŽŶƐ͕ ƉŽƚ ůĂďĞůƐ ĂŶĚ ĞĚƵĐĂƟŽŶĂů ŵĂƚĞƌŝĂůƐ ;ŝŶĐůƵĚŝŶŐ Ă ƐĐŚŽŽů ĂƐƐĞŵďůLJ ŽŶ ƚŚĞ ƚŚĞŵĞ ŽĨ ZŝĚĚŝŶŐ ƚŚĞ t ŽƌůĚ ŽĨ WŽůŝŽͿ͘ /Ŷ ĂĚĚŝƟŽŶ͕ ƚŚĞƌĞ ǁ ŝůů ďĞ Ă ŶĂƟŽŶĂů ĐŽŵƉĞƟƟŽŶ ĨŽƌ ƚŚĞ ďĞƐƚ designed crocus pot label.
