Living Creatures That Dwell On Earth Since The Time Of Dinosaurs Dinosaurs ruled the land, water, and even sky for more than 180 million years before they wiped out due to an asteroid hit. Though they have become extinct, dinosaur claws and fossils are still present, though, buried deep in the ground that most paleontologists are extracting now. While most life on the earth met their fate of mass extinction during the Cretaceous-Tertiary period, many land-based vertebrates and marine families were lucky enough to survive. Here is a list of those animals whose ancestors lived alongside dinosaurs and were able to survive and thrive.

Crocodiles If you’ve ever noticed crocodiles resemble the dinosaurs in many ways. Even in the Dinosaurs’ reign, crocodiles flourished in abundance. These living species have been roaming on Earth since 240 million years ago. It’s believed the Cretaceous period was full of crocodile ancestors like Dryosaurus, Sarcosuchus, Shieldcroc, Deinosuchus, and more. Snakes Despite a sleek body with no bones, snakes were able to survive the extinction that dinos couldn’t. Paleontologists successfully tracked the earliest known snake fossils dating back to 167 million years ago. This concludes snakes lived the era of dinosaur and watched them getting extinct. Bees Buzzing bees have been roaming and stinging around the Earth since the time of dinosaurs. According to paleontologists, bees first appeared in the Cretaceous period after the appearance of the first flowering plant. However, it’s still a theory because of poor fossil records. Sharks Sharks have been praying on oceanic creatures for more than 450 million years now. That’s even before dinosaurs came into existence. Just like crocodiles, they flourished well in the water and survived the mass extinction. Though there are certain species like megalodon, who extinct with dinosaurs and now exist only in the form of tooth fossils. It’s believed that sharks have successfully survived four to five mass extinctions. Sea stars Though look delicate, sea stars including sea cucumbers and urchins survive the extinction without getting wiped out. Pentasteria is an extinct genus that even swam deep-sea alongside dinos during the Early Jurassic and early Cretaceous period. The fossils have been found in large numbers in Europe. Green Sea Turtles It’s believed the earliest marine turtles appeared in the Jurassic period, however, there is no record of their living during the Cretaceous period, after which their evolution began. Prehistoric turtles that belonged to the group of Archelon, ancient reptiles, went extinct along with dinosaurs. You can find red claw of dinosaurs, shark tooth, and even fossils from several authentic websites.
