THE PROJECT USES THE PATHS THROUGH THE ARBORETUM TO SEPERATE THE PROGRAMMATIC ELEMENTS AND REDISTRIBUTE THEM UTILIZING THE NATURAL TERRAIN AS WELL AS ESTABLISHING VIEWS TOWARD LAKE FAYETTEVILLE. THE CANOPY ACTS AS THE UNIFIER FOR THE PROJECT, MARKING THE AFFECTED AREAS AND PROVIDING VISITORS WITH SOME PROTECTION FROM THE ELEMENTS. CHANGES IN THE PATTERN OF THE CANOPY CORRELATE TO SPECIFIC NEEDS OF LIGHT AND STRUCTURE.

THE GOAL OF THE CREATIVE CORRIDOR IS TO REGENERATE LITTLE ROCK’S RICH DOWNTOWN HISTORY BY INTRODUCING THE NEW TYPOLOGY OF THE MEDIATHEQUE INTO THE FABRIC OF THE CITY. THE BUILDING IS THE ANCHOR FOR THE CREATIVE CORRIDOR, STANDING AT THE CORNER OF MARKHAM AND MAIN STREET. THE BUILDING IS ORGANIZED WITH THE PUBLIC SPACES RELATING TO THE MEDIATHEQUE OCCUPYING THE LOWER FLOORS AND PRIVATE OFFICES ON THE UPPER FLOORS. LONG HORIZONTALS ON THE FACADE HELP TO GROUND THE BUILDING AND DIMINISH ITS VERTICALITY WHILE THE FROSTED GLASS HIGHLIGHTS THE MEDIATHEQUE SPACES.
